Very excited about the Rangers future. In 2 years I would love the Rangers to be able to ice a lineup of:

Kovalchuk/Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik
Grachev-Anisimov-Dubinsky
Hagelin-(3rd line center signed as FA)-Callahan

Then a bunch of 4th liners the Rangers get from their system and FA signings.

Grachev - Anisimov - Gaborik
Hole - Dubinsky - Callahan
Avery - Stepan - Werek
Byers - Hole - Weise

Staal - McDonagh
Sauer - Del Zotto
Sanguinetti - Hole

Hank
Hole

Is what I had posted in another thread. With the right 2nd line LW it's not that bad of a team. And it's young, which hopefully means it's a hungry team.

Hopefully that's a spot Kreider can slot into.

Brashear and Voros will already be gone from last year. The only disappointment would be hanging on to Redden for another two years.

Should we as Ranger fans be proud of the near future? Our core along with our prospects will develop. Henrik will still be with us as well as Gaborik. If we can sign the right pieces for the appropriate amount could we be a serious contender for the Stanley cup?

Or should we be devastated? Will Sather sign another horrendous contract? Will injuries plague our team? Will our prospects not live up to our expectations?

I am asking if anyone is excited for the upcoming future. I think it looks really bright. Or does anyone think we will still be stuck with more cap gulping contracts. Are we destined for mediocrity or are we destined for a dynasty? Another 8 seeded team barely making it into the playoffs or a top 4 contender?

According to the Mayan Calender the world ends in 2 years, figures just as we unload the dead weight we really will be dead. It really IS hard being a Ranger fan.

Don't forget we may potentially be getting an excellent center in this draft. I'm thinking:

Gaborik- Seguin- Grachev
Kreider- Stepan- Dubsinky
Werek- Anisimov- Callahan
Weise- Boyle- Hagelin

Staal- MDZ
Sanguinetti- McDonagh
Gilroy- Sauer

Lundqvist
Jonhson

Goodness gracious.

Good job! You built a team that is worse than Sathers, just cheaper.

Your saying if Gilroy is still stuck on the 3rd pair in two years we should keep him? He should be gone by then if thats the case. Same with Dubinsky going between 2nd and 3rd line. What has Grachev done to show he's a 1st line prospect? Stepan should be a rookie in two years in the AHL, not centering out 2nd line, same with McDonagh. I realize this is hockeysFUTURE people but you need some vets to help the kids grow. We aren't the Islanders and Oilers here.

Good job! You failed to recognize every post in this thread was doing the exact same thing. That team in 2 years would absolutely destroy this years team. Players like Weise and Werek actually hustle every game and play hard unlike half of this team. Even if they don't light it up initially they can bring a much need energy boost to this team, considering nobody hits besides Callahan. You don't think a more mature Dubinsky/Callahan/MDZ/Staal/Gilroy/Anisimov could replace the offensive production of Prospal and Jokinen? Well you are most definitely wrong. Not to mention Seguin can easily step into the NHL and outscore everyone on this team aside from Gaborik. Sanguinetti or Sauer could walk on to this team right now and outplay Redden and Roszival, not to mention Staal will be more then ready to anchor a defense in 2 years, with Del Zotto and Girardi supporting. Oh ya but of course let's go with the veteran technique that has worked so well for us. Bring in more Drury clones!

When did I say they were a cup contender? I don't need this team to win for me to be happy, I just need them to play hard every game. That is something this line up can produce. Sorry if upset you chief.

Glen Sather is annointed GM/President for life

Am I forgetting anything?
Man... talk about worst case scenario..... LOL....

But I do agree with this.... Sanguinetti, Grachev, Kreider, McDonagh and Stepan become this decade's equivalent of Bryce Lampman, John Tripp, Rico Fata, Ales Pisa, and Jamie Lundmark

The prospects listed are all just prospects not in the NHL..... I do remember when Jamie Lundmark was supposed to be the next Yzerman.. Everyone was excited about the future with Lundmark, Brendl and etc....

and everyone has been excited about the future of Staal, MDZ, Dubi, Lundqvist and Cally.

Those days are behind us, most of our youth that weve been excited about has panned out with various degrees of success.

In two years Olli Jokinen will only have three years left on the contract Sather overpaid him for.

seriously though hopefully all goes well and they stick to the plan of building from within hopefully with a new gm.

Slats will be gone this off season or next count on it, Lets hope "Newyork" comes to there senses and builds thru the draft instead of buying band aids to cover the mistakes of the past.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this earlier, if they did I missed it. Messier will be the GM.

Sather will just repeat himself and sign another player to a ridiculous contract.

Hopefully in 2 yrs we will have a new GM who doesnt give retarded contracts to mediocre free agents.

Until Sather is out we will continue to be a mediocre franchise no matter how good our prospect depth is.

Who knows? Who would have thought two years ago, that the team would look like this?
