Esche just won the game with that save. This game feels just like the NJ vs. Philly games - it's over.

Philly is a force right now.

Man, this one hurt. Hurt bad.

Not much difference between teams today. Obviously the PP was the difference and the winning goal was on PP resulting from a minor league piece of defense by our least experienced player, the same guy who failed to bury Sundin's great setup.

Didn't feel any better that Mogilny's shot probably deserved a better fate.

But... we lost. The PP is a big part of the game in the playoffs and we were outplayed badly there.

And Esche was excellent again.

We'd better sweep in toronto or it could be all over.

You know, I like it better when we really get outplayed and lose 7-0. Fewer things to mull over in my head.

I just want to add that Toronto looks just like NJ did. They're not playing badly, quite the opposite. But Robert Esche is getting great support and making the big saves, and Zhamnov is coming through when they need him to. These games look almost identical to those of the NJ - Philly series.

Philly is going to be really tough to beat. They're just playing great hockey.

Awesome game by Esche and Zhamnov again. We'll have to play better in Toronto though. Game 3 will be very hard to win- we just need a split and then take 'em in 5 back in Philly!!!!

Unlike you guys, I actually feel pretty calm. Compared to last year, that is. Could you imagine Cechmanek in the net during a game like this? I would've had like 12 heart attacks tonight.

It has nothing to do with any of the assumptions you're making, now that's being a di**. I put money on the Leafs to win the Cup at 12-1 odds. I thought that was great value for what I think is the most solid team from the goalie out. Sundin getting injured was not part of my plan, nor was having to play Ottawa in the 1st round and then Philly in the 2nd. That's a tough road.

Anyways, I hope I didn't offend you with the little shot I took a Sammy. Relax.
I think you're going to lose some money. :lol

I have to say I agree, I dont know if Im relaxed because of Esche in goal or its all the vodka Im drinking as a salute to Zhamnov, Markov and Malakhov.

when i watched giguere last year, i thought how could hard could it be to be a ducks fan, watching this type of hockey. impossible chances, and he just had every answer. That is pretty much how esche has looked the last four games.

I was very impressed with Timmander, consistently in the middle of the action, and the play where he caught up with sundin on the breakaway really helped out. That sequence would of been even sweeter had Amonte scored on the countering breakaway.

Like I've been saying all season. We're gonna need a goalie who will steal games for us, not every game is going to be like game one. Esche did more than any goalie should ever have to in order to keep us in the game, and when we were given a chance on the powerplay, we took advantage. It's very difficult to get all these ingredients in gear at the same time, but when they do, look out.

Hopefully we can take game 3...but we must prepare for a game 3 like vs. new jersey. Also, Toronto's home ice advantage is greater than Jersey's.

still, a great win

Great pace tonight...both teams came out hard but the "Average" goaltender outplayed "God" again...Esche is brilliant.

I like Barry Melrose but did he appear despondent after that game? And how come little mention of Kim Johnsson's injury?

He's been saying that the Leafs and Senators were the two best teams in the East for a while now, which is contrary to his usual switch-favorite-team-once-per-day routine.

Only if Toronto loses the next game is this series over. 2-1 and Toronto is right back in it. 3-0 and they are most likley done for.
