I get the feeling that the 2nd round pick will be a running gag, this is getting ridiculous.

I dont understand why some of you are ripping on Gauthier. Moore is an upgrade over lapierre and metro. And how do you know matt cullen was available for a second, did you call rutherford and ask him.

2nd rounder this year > 2nd rounder next year

Cullen will end up going for more than a 2nd rounder probably too.

Just saying
Matt Cullen is making 2.875 million compared to 1.1 million of Moore, welcome to the salary cap era.

Eliotte Friedman says heavy price of trade proves it's essential for Montreal to make playoffs.

Molsons telling Gauthier to get them some playoff revenues?

the question is now, how much will metropo bring..

a 3th would make things even... but that seem like a crazy price..

at everyone ing because we sacrificed a 2nd rounder to cover one of our biggest flaw : bottom 6 scoring and grit.
Moore is not a top 6er... however on the 3rd line, he can bring the contribution a guy like Higgins is bringing to Cgy right now. For way cheaper and maybe with more grit.

I'd give up our 2nd rounder this year if it mean us getting Cullen and, hell, re-signing Cullen. He'd bring so much more to the table than Moore.

Well, as someone who has watched Moore extensively over the last year (much more than most of you in this thread have, I can assure you), I know exactly what we're getting, and, quite frankly, I'm less than thrilled about it.

The 2nd Rounder isn't the part that bothers me personally, I'm just not high on Moore at all. It seems so pointless to me unless he's replacing someone, which I'm assuming he is.

I hope it's Metropolit, just based on age.

Have you seen Dominic Moore in Toronto? He was not garbage.

The only problem it's that he's a role player and we have more than enough of those.

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Pouliot - Gomez - Gionta
Moen - Moore - Sergei
Darche - Metropolit - Lapierre

Looks pretty solid to me if it can actually get healthy.

Agreed, but...

Cullen > Moore too

So it plays out fine, if you look at it that way.

He's kinda right on that one.. Many people have no clue about draft picks and prospects and even Moore, but they whine. I have no clue about all these things, so I just wait and not complain. Is it that hard?

Unless they are moving Lapierre to the wing again ...

A 2nd round pick is the price the get Moore NOW. At the trade deadline maybe it would be rather a 3rd round pick...

From Twitter:

TheFourthPeriod Depth move for Canadiens. They're not done (though I wouldn't anticipate another move before roster freeze)

What does it say when Florida who is only a few points back with games in hand is willing to do this trade.

Plus Moore is a better fit for a shutdown role with Moen and maybe Lapierre on the other side(or Darche). Cullen is a better offensive player but I can't see him in a shutdown role.

I'd still like this deal a lot more if it was for a 4th though.
