Talk about not knowing what you're talking about, Gauthier took a mickey mouse team and made go all the way to conference leaders for many years.

At least people are saying the 2011 draft will be as bad as the 1999 draft, where very few 1st rounders ever made it and the first and fourth picks ( Stefan and Brendl) were epic busts.

Adding Moore , PK, counting Laraque is the team over the 23 player limit?

If you think better face-off % is worth giving up a 2nd for then, by all means, you will be thrilled with this. Because that's the only thing Moore has got on Metro/Lapierre.

He is over 55 percent on faceoffs. Im guessing thats the number 1 reason they got him.

I'm really not the reactionary type and always looked at the reasons behind a trade. But this...there's no explanation for this. Just a good old fashion fleecing. Heaven help us in this Gauthier era....

What is Moore's future role on the team? That is the question. A second rounder is steep considering we have a ton of AHL guys and youngsters that can play solid minutes with the team right. Is moore a great PKer? A great face off guy? He has to bring something to the table that the team clearly lacks to validate such an overpayment.

or perhaps deft soccer moves?

Huet at the time was our Starting goalie, and was one of the top goalies in the league at the time. He was no Brodeur, but definately worth more than a 2nd.

Dominic Moore passed through WAIVERS (meaning his old team GAVE him away to anyone who would take his contract).

He is NOT worth a 2nd round pick.

Nice, I like this trade. Dominic Moore is a helluva a player. He's going to be a fan favourite here before long.

I hope it's Metropolit, just based on age.
That is what I think. Metropolit has been bad 5 on 5 for a long time this season. He started out OK, but it's too often way too difficult to get otu of the zone when his line is on the ice.

Cullen is older, more expensive than Moore and he's UFA also.

Well anyway, it's too soon to call this one. One thing is for sure, our team is better than it was yesterday.

Everyone seems to gloss over this little fact.

I'm ok with the deal, but I just don't understand where he'll fit. Metro is arguably the most underrated player (not by the coaches, however) and we cannot afford to replace him. He gets the puck in the dirty areas, has a surprisingly good stick and a good head. Laps, well, he's improving lately. Moore is probably better than him right now. I'm sure this is related to something else a brewin cuz i just doesn't make sense why we'd go after him seeing as he's no better than any of our current centers.

That said, he is a good player and hopefully he will help solidify the bottom 6 and be a role player.
Methinks this Frolov thing might be happening. I know everyone is totally against it, but who knows, if we can sign him and turn him around...another Pouliot like steal....maybe more (oh look at me, speculating about a move that hasn't even been made yet).

well, welcome Dominic.

I watch about 200 games a year, have done so for the last 10-12 years, talk to someone else. Moore is a good two way center, he has good speed and is a good agitator i.e. good at drawing penalties...guess who has one of the best PP in the league?

Lapierre will play RW from now on, at least that's what Martin has been insinuating and frankly i agree as I don't think he's got the hockey sense to play center, specially not in Martin's system.

No, we have a right to whine when our GM gets an average to below average role player (of which we have a lot of already) for a 2nd rounder, let it be a weak draft.

This is why it's a message board, we can discuss our opinions, and mine (as well as many others) is that this wasn't a good move.

Lang didn't have a putrid season when we traded for him. And had Benny even played 100 games in the NHL before we dealt for him?
Moot points.
