Something Is Afoot - Changes Are Coming (All Deadline Discussion/Proposal Thread)

With all the internet chatter, comments from McGuire on 990 about a former 1st rounder going to the Habs, PK being called up and now trading a 2nd for Moore.

I can't help but feel something bigger is up and the Habs seem to want to make a big push for the Playoffs after beating Washington.

patrickcaisse mentioned the Habs would make a minor deal with Fla, Chicago etc on his twitter as well. I still think there's a bigger trade going down tonight in time for tomorrow's game against Philly.

Well, something is up. I don't think getting Moore is it for the deadline.

If Lapierre gets traded I will be so god damn pissed.

I won't be able to watch games with my girlfriend anymore, he was one of the reasons she got started with the Habs and she'd be crushed. Same for Price.

I think I've developed quite the man crush.

looks like BobbyMac just blew up the Frolov deal on his twitter page.

Friedman says that looking at the Moore deal, it looks like Montreal MUST make the playoffs this year.

Gauthier still has the deal McGuire said was offered tonight.

yeah, It would be great to have Frolov, but with a healthy lineup, I think Gionta, Gomez, Pouliot, Pleky, AK, Cammy all deserve to be in the top 6.

Where would Frolov come in? Granted, the guys got skills, as well as a temperament a la Kovalev. Not only that, if he doesn't get ice time he will be skipping away to Russia, no chance of signing him. If only he could play on a third scoring line with Sergei. But that's just dreams.

Also, I don't want to lose Price

I'm not sure Tampa could take on the $453 Million going back their way in that trade

In today's salary cap world, you have to give cap to get cap

Given that Pouliot is still pretty young, I could see him on a third line with sergei and Moore for this year.

So if it all goes down, to finish off the year we may look like:

AK - Vinny - Gionta
Cammy - Pleks - Frolov
SK - Moore - Pouliot
Moen - Metro - Lapierre

Markov - O'Byrne
Spacek - Gorges
Subban - Gill

Can't be ant worse than what we got, Let's do it!!

Apparently Tampa is looking to give pretty good cap so it might not be a bad move by Montreal

I'm hoping we move someone for a right handed D who can play on the top two pairs.

Zidlicky is a UFA...

I think Metro's gone... I mean, there was something on either Caisse or McKenzie twitter...

"Need to make salary cap room".

... And if we're giving a 2nd for Moore, I doubt it's about trading either Pleks or Gomez (which would mean we're sellers), nor it's about trading Lapierre, who makes LESS than Moore.

Then again, Lapierre could leave, but that operation would give us a + in the cap column, unless we're sending Hamrlik away, which I think is really possible... But then, why exactly picking a guy who would do more than Lapierre for cap purposes? And picking Moore to play C (while moving Lapierre to W) means we're probably moving a W with a bigger salary...

well,

on day 2, I see that Gauthier is a bit more agressive than Gainey.

Subban and Moore

not bad.

dont try to dig too far in it.

Martin is pissed at Metro
Martin likes Moore
Gauthier wants to please Martin
Gauthier gets Moore and tries to rid of Metro

Seriously, it has to be something more going on.

Pierre Gauthier is no d-bag, with Lapierre and Metro, there is no need to even give the slightest effort to bring a fourth line center to the team.

God I hope there is something more to this...
