Changing the first 3 shooters would have been stupid when the 3 that take our first 3 shots have won us a ton of shootouts this year, (more than any other team). Seriously if the lineup had been Kopi-Simmonds-Doughty first up and we lost in 3 rounds, everyone would be calling for Murrays head
"Stupid" seems a little strong when 2 of the 3 I mentioned scored, whereas only 1 of the 3 he started with scored. Going with the same 3 guys every time regardless of what was going on in the game that night seems a little rigid, if you ask me. But maybe that's why I don't cash an NHL coach paycheck.
I just wanna know what was going through Doughty's head when he took that LATE shot that lead to his unsportsmanlike penalty. If it was a little late, I could understand chalking it up to being unable to stop your followthrough, but that was way way late.
Also, I had this weird dream where Clune was a former marine, and he came onto the ice dressed in some gay fur jacket that Sean Avery would wear, and those stupid goggles, just to mess with people.

if you watch the replay it appears to me he his head is down and never saw the net come off, as his head never looked up til the point where he was releasing his shot.

hmm. I didn't record it, but that could be a possible explanation. Seems weird to have his head down the whole time though, but alas, I don't remember.
Doesn't change the fact that goalies get a chance to take their liberties on a player. It happens all the time. The refs weren't going to call Doughty. But once Deslauriers retaliated they evened it up.
This scenario plays out quite frequently. Goalies always have a green light to go after a player for this. The refs will ALWAYS even something like this up, so the goalie has nothing to lose.

Uhh, did he invite you back to the lockerroom or something?
I remember reading where TM said that if our lines are not working, he will tweek them to find new chemistry, or something to that effect.
Given that, why do we not tweek the PP to put on some different players which could give a different look.
oh well...lets beat the Avs please.
i know murray has said things like that before, but he's also said things the suggest a totally different motive for changing the lines so much. i think he changes the lines so often because he wants the players to play within the system and structure that he espouses. moving guys around forces them to be sort of modular elements within a kings hockey machine. all centers must play in a certain way. all wingers have certain responsibilities and positions they have to fulfill.
this may sounds really rigid, and in some sense it is, but i also think it's been relatively effective, so i'm not a particular critic of it. but, if this is the underlying motive for the frequent line changes, it might also suggest that he's happy with the structure and system of the power play: set up kopitar on the halfwall and stoll or doughty for point shots. though i think (as do many others here) that this is too predictable, it may be that the system and structure of the power play is fine as far as murray thinks.
or it could also be that kompon chooses the personnel for the power play and that murray gives him relative freedom to do so.
