If the Flames had had to play Curtis McElhinney instead of Kipper for 40 games, that -2 becomes a lot bigger of a number. If Khabby is in our net instead of an AHL tandem, -54 becomes much smaller. "Miles apart" isn't an appropriate description. Just look at their best D-Man, Bouwmeester - whose played better this year, him or Visnovsky?
A 6 games swing, or switch our goalie situations and we are statistically going to be really close.
Edit - a little math. McElhinney's GAA is a full goal higher than Kippers. Multiply that by 40 and they'd be at -42 right now.
and...if Hemsky didn't miss 3/4 of the season... if Horcoff was having a 70 point year... if Souray was healthy and playing like a multi-million dollar stud Dman again... if Pisani, Moreau, Cogliano, O'Sullivan, Nilsson were all on pace for 20 goal seasons... if Gilbert & Grebeshkov were playing like they did a couple years ago... if Penner's second half was like his first half... if our back up goalers were actually playing like competent goalers...
