I hope for something to happen too, nothing major, but still. With Potter gone back to Hartford, all the speculations cooled down pretty fast. I think Sather will be active after the break. Let's wait and see, only 4 hours to wait... In the meantime, hopefully we have hockey to watch. France-Ukraine... What a matchup!

I doubt the Rangers would trade any of their guys who are going to the Olympics, so I doubt there's much of a rush. I also doubt Sather turns around and trades Jokinen.

I'm starting to think that this pre deadline deadline is a figment of Eklund's imagination.

Question for Mods - when stuff is announced on Twitter, do you still want links or is enough to say "per X's twitter"?

Dreger thinks there will be more trades:

Saying it's from someones Twitter is okay, as long as it's a reputable source.

Both Dreger and McKenzie have said they expect today to be busy.

If Dominoc Moore can fetch a second round pick we should at least be able to get that for Prospal.

But... we wont deal him because we refuse to sell in a clear selling situation.

I would expect this deadline to be pretty active. If a team trades for a player now, they gain an additional two weeks of practice time for said player.

Disagree there...Cullen alone I wouldn't think would warant a 2nd rounder in return. Throw in Pickard and I think the Canes win this one hands down!

Yeah they turned a 3rd into Picard and a 2nd. But then, that 3rd became Grachev, so we can't complain

Picard has been playing pretty crappy for Ottawa so they probably don't care about letting him go

It sounds like Florida is going to be torn the F apart.

Cullen's got 40 points in 60 games and is a UFA after the season. Good move for Ottawa who clearly believe they have a shot in the East.

Not saying it's bad for Carolina either, though.

Florida has been a pretty crappy team for years and years and everyone would keep saying "no this is the year they turn it around, they have a great young team!" and then they'd do the same **** over and over.

This is probably the best thing for Florida in years, providing Sexton can actually rebuild it worth a damn

Sure sounds like it. I wish we'd get one of these letters from Sather.

Yep. Picard has been absolutely horrible for Ottawa. Ottawa also has a spare second round pick fro
the Heatley trade.

This trade isn't all that bad as some might think. Cullen gives them additional help on the PP and can center the third line.

"Clearly, we are not satisfied with some of the players on this team that do not possess the characteristics we need to be successful."

Think the traded players are going to be pissed at that? Ouch.
