I can tolerate him more than I used to. Jeanneret, I cannot and passionately hate him.

This one still makes me laugh. It's so perfect.

Again, it seems many are confusing information with knowledge.

Knowing that Savard's knee hurts or that Nevin Markwart wore #17 and played 245 games for the Bruins does not mean he knows hockey.

That comes from being around the team and reading the history.

Honestly, how many times have you heard him ask Brickley a question about the game, x's and o's, the equiptment, skating, passing, shooting, defending, transitioning (that he legitimately wanted information about) and you didn't know the answer or at least more than he knew about the topic.

If anyone finds his act to be professional then the world a much less mature place than I ever imagined (and that's saying something - b/c, I'm not a big fan of the maturity of most people that I come into contact with).

There is a large population of Bruin fans that don't listen to the game because of Edwards.

Not being dramatic, his antics subtract from the enjoyment of the game for a lot of fans.

It's not really difficult to understand, even if you like Edwards, how he would grate on some people.

When Edwards acts like a buffoon it illicts a physical cringe that draws some people's attention away from the game. It's annoying.

Some Bruins fans would rather remove those cringe worthy moments...and simply enjoy the ice hockey game.

It's just a shame that those fans must lose out on a top notch color man like Brick.

But, see, I love Jenrette, too.

What do people want? These homogenized, politically-correct, controlled, monotone, drab dinglers calling every game?

The NHL, in fact, all sports, benefits from having these colorful characters do the games.

What are you people? On DOPE?

I was always under the impression that he asks those things to get an actual hockey player's view and opinion on whatever is happening on the ice.

Jack Edwards is great. Keep him forever, NESN.

Is it too much to ask for a guy to be professional and have some decorum and class, while describing who passed or shot the puck, threw a check or made a save?

I don't need to be entertained by some clown who knows little about the subject he's talking about. If I want that I can tune into Keith Olbermann's show.

Sometimes they are a seque to keep the broadcast moving but overall, aside from facts (jersey numbers, stats, etc.) he has no feel for the game and has very little understanding of the nuances of the game.

What?!

With the exception of Brian Duff, those guys can't go two seconds without stuttering and stammering.
Seriously, they can't put two sentences together without making some kind of awkward grammatical error.

They last thing they should be doing is commenting on Edwards.

I've said it before, and I'll say I again: if NESN keeps him signed, Edwards will be a living Boston sports commentater legend. He's the best play by play guy in the league, well informed, and the way he gets under the skin of opposing fans is really endearing. Keep hating haters... The legend of Jack Edwards grows more every year.

Jack has comical way of supporting the Bruins, it's child like. On Center Ice I have been catching the other guys. It seems that it's the home team's guys that we catch with Center Ice.

My brother does not like Jack but I can say he doesn't bother me. Maybe I tune out Jack, is that possible?

Reading some more posts I remembered some thoughts I've had when I listen to Jack.

Huh, he doesn't know too much about hockey. Then I think it most be because of his lip that he has the job. Once again I think he is comical in his calls much unlike the Buffalo guy.

I don't care for Jack and prefer listening to Gouch, but I really don't care if other teams fans don't like him.

Jeanneret is awful, and his son who does radio for the Portland Pirates is even worse.

Anyone who makes every shot into a high pitched squeal is terrible.

He's an embarrassment.

I have been locked for this subject in the past and it boggles my mind when I see anything longer than a page allowed.

Anyways, poor us and poor Brickley.

I'm the biggest Bruins fan you'll find. 'We' don't love him. He couldn't call a high school game.

I pray that they get rid of him for next year.

What sucks is that Dave Goucher is one of the best broadcasters I have ever heard, and I'm not exaggerating, but he's tucked away on the radio. Maybe he likes it better but I doubt it. This guy should've been NESN's first choice when Dale left. Wait for that contract to end and then sweep in.

Goucher and Brick would be epic

Agree, he's fantastic. I know on versus games, I'll put on Goucher, and pause my DVR util it aligns very closely with the 98.5 broadcast. Sounds fantastic
