Gotta play with a little more desire, gotta work to get the puck to the middle of the ice and from there...there is no excuse not to grip it and rip it...

Brodeur should stop everything he sees, but on a few of these sharp angle shots guys like Erat and O'Reilly have taken coming down the wing with speed there are rebounds out front that we must pounce on...Sulzer jumped up in transition and fed Arnott for a slapper from the wing, Brodeur left a rebound, but Sulzer - who had continued to drive the middle lane after dishing the puck off - simply turned his head and hustled back...one or two more strides and he had a great scoring chance...

Must stay out of the box. Must get Wilson more ice time. Must keep Belak and even Jones pinned to the bench. Must continue working when we get on the PP. Must make sure to keep Kovalchuk marked whenever he is on the ice (expect 10+ minutes in the third). Must make sure the puck gets out first time every time. Must make sure the puck gets in deep across the blueline every shift. Must keep using soft and cross-corner dump-ins to prevent Brodeur from handling the puck. Must simply dig deep and find a way to come out of here with two points tonight...
That.

Arnott and Sullivan leave Pekka out to dry...

Arnott is the low man there as the center, but Sullivan is also in position to take away the high slot as the weak-side winger in that position...Kovalchuk simply shouldn't have been that wide open in the slot...

3-2 Devils...

Big defensive breakdown, but that's a shot that Rinne should have gloved. It wasn't too low or too high. It was practically middle of the net height, and Rinne whiffed on the save.

Hamhuis and Zubrus skate into each other both looking in at the puck, Zubrus falls, Preds go to the kill...

You just knew that one wasn't getting killed...

Simply a case of a PP matching the work ethic of the PK and showing an urgency to get the puck to the net, then taking advantage of the extra man to pounce on a loose puck...

4-2 Devils...game likely over...

That was kind of funny. I love Horny but I got a good chuckle out of that.

Ah... not doing good on this roadtrip. 1-1-1. I just want the Pens game over with and then looking to really get some R&R over the Olympic break and then come back ready to whoop some major arse.

Ryan Jones - 3 minutes tonight. Trade him. It just does not make sense to put a guy that needs powerplay time and scorers with Wade Belak. He can't create. He needs to be the net guy, and he is not going to be that guy on this team with Hornqvist's emergence.

Trotz doesn't trust him. He is not good enough for specialty teams. It is time to move him in a deal.

Arnott clipped his skates as Hornqvist was jumping over the boards. Arnott tried to jump over at the same time and simply got just enough of Hornqvist's skates to throw off the timing there...

Belak needs to go, but Ryan Jones has made some pretty good moves this season. I'm not sure what he's being paid but if it's not much, it might be worth it to keep him around. Belak on the other hand, is not worth whatever he is paid. We can go back to Jordin being our fighter since we've got him for another couple years.

Sharks beat them to the "getting rid of your waste of space" move by dumping Shelley today. Don't know who else would be in the market for such a fine catch.

It is not that I dislike Jones. It is not that I think he is a failure as a player. He just does not fit this team. Trotz just does not have a place for him in this system, and it has been born out over the past few years. I think if you need to move a player to improve this team - you move Jones. If this was Paul Holmgren or Brian Burke, I can guarantee you that this would have already occurred. Poile is a bit more patient, which can be good or bad. I think the time has come, though, to move on from this experiment OR to give him more TOI. Either he needs PP time, third line time, or needs to be on the PK. Otherwise, it just does not make sense.

Then how do you shake such a "money down the toilet" player? What's his contract look like, can we just fire him?
