I've always liked Cullen as a player. I think this works well for both teams.

Yeah I think that motivation behind this deal was getting Cullen on the PP. Not a bad move, TBH.

I'd still like to see Karlsson on the first PP unit when he's healthy again. Kuba has been a useless bull tit both offensively and defensively. God knows how he got so many points last night.

Picard got a showcase last night and was downright awful.

For the record, he was out against Semin.

I love how fans say they're recently traded players were "terrible" so funny. Is that why he was playing 19-20 minutes a night? Because he's "terrible"? Decent trade overall though. Cullen can play wing as well. Carolina got good return for a rental that has flopped outside of Carolina.

I think those Semin goals were more Elliott's fault myself.

Picard has been absolutely awful. This is a fact established by eyes.

I'm not so sure.

You give Semin an open shot from the slot with that wrister and release of his....

I was at the game. I've never seen such a snappy release.

Extremely versatile. He can play all 3 forward positions but is best at center. Good for a 2nd line scoring role and very underrated defensively if needed for a 3rd line role. Can man the point on the PP. Good playmaker, good speed but about a quarter step slower then he used to be, very creative player.

Honestly he's one of the few of our impending UFAs I wouldn't mind seeing JR bring back this offseason.

I believe Elliott had no chance on the Semin goals. They were absolutely perfect shots.

Picard is sort of an enigma.

He's got decent offensive instincts, but he is prone to brain farts.

His toolset is fairly average, but he can be quite creative with his passes and sees the ice well.

He can lay out a big hit now and then, but can also get outmuscled.

He hasn't played much recently and is likely fairly rusty.

There has to be something else coming, as we're wayyyyyyyy over the cap now.

Add:
Cullen 2.875M
Lee 1.275M

Subtract:
Picard 800K
Campoli (if he goes on LTIR) 633K

I don't think Picard is nearly as bad the OTT fans are saying... He's young, cheap, in control of the Canes for 2-3 more years and can play on a second pairing... He will get better and has not been as bad as described... I think he's regressed a little bit this year, but young D do that quite often.... We were in desperate need of a young 3-4 guy for next year, so this deal works well for us... I think he's likely to get paired with Gleason, so that will help in a lot in being able to move the puck and get involved a little more offensively... He will learn a lot from Gleason too

Great player (Cullen) and great trade especially since Picard hasn't shown much yet.

Im not a big fan of either team but Picard's play wasn't really all that strong...he does have upside tho.

I actually like the guy, but he has been downright awful this year. I still do see him developping into a solid #5 guy who can play the PP.

It's true, if he can somehow eliminate his mistakes he would be a decent dman. He has all the tools.

Duthie was the first person to post on Twitter that Cullen was going to Ottawa.

I love this deal from a sens perspective.

Im shocked we could convince ANYONE to take Picard. He is so brutal its not even funny.

A 2nd is decent. We have 2 so at least we have one left.

Ahh yes, what with his 1 more point in the same amount of games, teams will surely be clamouring to give up mounds of picks and players for Poni! Poni may get less than this, not because he's worth less than Cullen, but because Ottawa needed to trade away some salary.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong but with Lee coming up we're way over the cap. Kelly for a D-Man?

Yes, exactly. When Picard is good, as he is most of the time, he's a decent bottom-pairing guy. He played a lot of quality games with Carkner earlier this season. But unfortunately, he has the potential to be absolutely terrible in any given game (like last night and a few others). Overall, glad to have him off the books.

Cullen is a nice player, but centre was probably the last position I was expecting an upgrade. I guess you can never have too many, plus he's got Cup experience and can play the point. This opens up a move for a d-man...
