Yep, great shot. Went 4/5 in the skills competition.

The obvious problem is his skating ability and the fact that he's not mobile enough to get into those high percentage scoring areas. If he's pushed a bit, he losses his balance and can't get a shot off.

He's only scored 1 goal this year on a very strange play where he was left wide open in front of the net and took a feed from Kovalev. Every other goal he's score has been off of some disastrous scramble and it was just a matter of him being in the right place to pot a freebie.

Sad story for sure, but he could still have a career if he worked on his skating. He could rebound from this and end up a pretty decent depth player.

Just a bit more evidence that the Sens got ripped off in the Heatley trade.
Michalek is great. What the Hell are you talking about?

Nope. The threshold is 400 games.

Players who play >400 games get a lump sum payment at age 55 - it used to be $250K, but I think it has been increased to the mid $300K's.

In addition to that lump sum, all players with <160 games receive an annual pension equal to the max allowed under Canadian Law (~$33K CDN) and all players with >160 games receive an annual pension equal to the max allowed under US Law ($45K USD).

Strikes me its not quite as boneheaded as letting your best forward and then your best defencman go without getting anything in return because "we dont negotiate during the season".

also- the Cheechoo waiver just made the trade better, not worse.

I love how sens fans were sure he was gonna be a 35 goal scorer at the beginning of the year.

Things have changed huh?

And yes I could probably provide you with a quote.

Sort of reminds me of Michael Ryder. Pure goal scorers like these, when they lose their touch, there's nothing they can do to keep them in the line-up.

exactly. He injured himself that season - double hernia. Same injury that finished Redden.

It's not effort or skill, he is just too injured to play the way he used to

As bad as Ryder's been, he's got 15 goals. How horrible is Cheechoo if he only has 5?

Savard badly needs a goal scorer but I don't think I'd even take Cheechoo on re-entry waivers.

Knowing some Sens fans, I think there's a good chance you could.

But I'm going to call you on it anyways. Being sure he would score 35 would take a heck of a Sens fan.

Are Sens mad about the Heatley deal now since it looks like Heater for Michalek and a Second Round pick?

So I am supposed to know every posters allegiances? Funny how you were so quick to point that out but couldn't search yourself

About the Heatley deal itself? I don't think so; given the circumstances getting a player as good as Michalek can be is a decent return.

Mad at Heatley for creating the circumstances that led to his trade is much more likely.

I think we've all come to accept that Murray got the best deal he could given what Heatley did.

It's not my point to prove. I don't care if any Senators' fan said that, because chances are it was one or two posters. I do know for a fact that the general consensus of Senators' fans was that it would be very unlikely that Cheechoo would score 35, and I do believe most were hoping for 20.

Even if I did care, and was arguing that no Sens fans had done so, why would I use the search function to try and disprove my argument? That wouldn't be very smart of me.

You need to think your posts through a bit more, methinks.
