It's a shame Wardo got hurt again. It would have been nice to hear his name as a reserve. And you got to think that if he had an injury free season, he would've pushed for a spot on the bench.

Can't wait to see Gleason, I think this is going to be a bit of an eye opening experience for many who aren't familiar with him. People don't realize how far along he has come.

Poor, Jokinen. He did everything in his power to get a spot and they still snubbed him. I wish Ruutu and Pitkanen the best but it's hard not to wish that team some ill will. I don't know the situation there, but you have to think there are some politics behind him not getting picked. I know how severely North Americans overrate NHL talent over KHL/SEL/etc... but Jokinen is without a doubt better than any of the non-NHLer's chosen and a number of NHLers that were picked. Best of luck to the other two Finnish boy though.

I'm also very curious to see how Roman Cervenka stands internationally. I know we almost guaranteed won't take a chance on signing him, especially since the Leafs will be looking for other sources to draw in talent. Regardless, I can dream.

Agreed about Jokinen. Probably similar to Alex Kovalev and the Russian team. I mean, Kovalev or Viktor Kozlov? Hmmm...

Re. Ward, I know that amongst my Canadian friends, following the playoffs last year Ward was a lock for the top 3 goaltenders and was getting serious run for the starting position. The absolute worst thing happened, and that was Ward's slow start to the season and the Hurricanes' BRUTAL start. Couple that with the scary injury, and his chances were quickly becoming less and less likely.

I truly think that it is a mistake to have Brodeur as the starting goaltender for 2010. If he plays the majority of games, Canada will enter 2014 with a "new" starting goaltender. I really think we should try to ride Luongo in the first couple of games and see how it goes. There's always Brodeur to come in and mop up if necessary.

So, game watch party on Sunday (21st) for Canada - USA? I'm thinking either Buffalo Brothers, Tyler's Tap Room in Apex or Backyard Bistro. Anyone else in?

Uhhhhh i want Rutherford to sign Mats Zuccarello Aasen. This kid is impressive and dynamic. Cervenka is nice too but he's going to Toronto.

How many people tried tuning in to watch the US women's hockey team only to find that USA Network is showing some stupid Disney film instead?

Have I ever said how much I absolutely hate NBC?

yup, and it is already 5-0 at the end of the 1st. Jenny Potter has 2 already. Kelli Stack a goal and an assist. USA went 1 for 2 on the PP, but has 1:28 left on a third PP to start the 2nd. Probably no chance to challenge Canada's rout yesterday, but prob will still be pretty large

8-0 going into the 3rd. It helped that Canada's goalie actually started challenging shooters more than she did in the first. Hope Erika Lawler's not too banged up, though.

There might be a slim advantage in playing the Leafs immediately after the break, as their coach and GM will both be occupied with the Olympics for the next two weeks. Not much opportunity for productive work with the NHL club.

NBC is streaming them from their site. http://www.nbcolympics.com/

Though you need to enter your location and which cable company you have and it can be limited based on that. Supposedly they are doing a very good job of keeping any other streams from being shown, so is likely the only way you can watch online.

He's one of the Swiss' most experienced and talented players. And he's not really that old, turning 34 tomorrow.

5:30 pm ET - Women's - Canada vs. Switzerland on MSNBC

It will be replayed at 3 am ET on MSNBC, as well. That's the only game today, at least on the schedule for being shown.

Tomorrow is a better day with the men starting.

12 noon ET - Men's - US vs. Switzerland on USA
2:30 pm ET - Women's - US vs. Russia on MSNBC
5pm ET - Men's - Canada vs. Norway on CNBC
7pm ET - Women's - Finland vs. Finland on CNBC
9:30pm ET - Men's - Russia vs. Latvia on CNBC

Talk about ridiculous....Jarkko Ruutu, Ville Peltonen and Niko Kapanen are on the Finnish team and Jussi isnt. Whoever is making the decisions there should be immediately jailed.

These times are going to be Pacific Time Zone... so add three hours to get what times we will see the games.

Hmm... Odd. You're right. They were supposed to be ET from what I was looking at, but just checked and they are off. Must have gotten screwed up when I switched from today to tomorrow. The first game (on currently) is correct, but the Tuesday schedule is:

3-6pm Men's US vs. Switzerland on USA
5:30-8pm Women's US vs. Russia on MSNBC
8-10pm Men's Canada vs. Norway on CNBC
10pm-12:30am Women's Finland vs. China on CNBC

Thanks!

Not a problem. I didn't want anyone else missing the game like me since I'll be in class... grrr.
