Washington takes this, double checks both ways, crosses the street and runs. Real fast.

Not enough for Hamhuis, who would be an awesome acquisition at the deadline, and even better long term signing for Washington.

No way the Caps do that, not if they expect Poti to be healthy again any time this season (and I've heard no indication that his injury is long term).

fair enough, i haven't seen hamhuis that much, only heard about him and he sounded like a good fit for washington. Poti is signed for another year though at 3.5 mil and that seemed like too much, and I'm pretty sure Nashville wants stuff to help them know, not futures. So what should the Caps add to get Nashville to bite.

Also rentals never seem to get what guys on here think they are worth. i.e. that russian guy that just went to the Devils.

That's what I was thinking, sounds like a pretty realistic trade for an awesome upcoming UFA.

Washington doesn't do this as this would drastically improve their defensive game making a playoff series against them much more painful and quick. They don't need the additional help.

How about we give the rest of the teams in the East a chance here? No roster additions required.

i don't think Nashville would have any interest in Bouchard. Osala seems like better bet to make the NHL and could probably start playing for them sooner rather than later. Any return for Hamhuis can't cripple the team it would have to bring back players that can help now.

As a Preds fan I'd do it. How close is Oscar from playing NHL? His AHL stats say he's a year away.

(As a totally biased Ray Bourque fan I wouldn't mind if you threw in Chris. )

i think if osala gets a 5-10 game shot to play this year he would have decent shot of sticking. If not then yeah he should be ready next year. I might be wrong but I think he is playing for Finland in the Olympics too. nm he didn't make it, maybe I heard he was being considered.

I would love to see Hamhuis in a Caps jersey but not at the expense of Morrisonn. as far as I can tell Nashville is loaded with D-men.

so how about Osala and Gustaffson for Hamhuis and a 4th rd pick

At the expense of Morrisonn? ShaMo's a fine #5 or 6 d man problem is we already have couple of those currently, chances are were letting him walk on July 1st to

I think Poile wants scoring help now, not in a few years. Personal feelings of the coaching staff aside I'd like the proposal to be something like:

to Nashville:

Tomas Fleischmann
Shoane Morrisonn

to Washington:
Dan Hamhuis
option for Nashville's 3rd in '10 or 2nd in '11

If we were to trade Hammer, this is definitely something I'd be interested in.
