Quick's Olympic Hockey Mask (Photos starting at post #26)

I found a photo of Miller's mask, and reports say that Quick received his at the game in Toronto last week. Can anyone find a photo of it?

Ryan Miller's mask:

Here's Nabokov's mask:

Does anybody else see the resemblance? Quick is like Eminem mixed with the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but Miller's mask looks amateur. The colors are all over the place and the drawing looks weak. I mean it's a cool pose, but it looks almost too cartoony. On the other hand, Nabokov's looks very professional, clean, and intimidating.

Oh, and the Nabokov link wasn't working, so I found this link. I assume it's the same helmet:

I deal with a lot of this stuff on a daily basis, and the Miller job is a much more difficult piece, there is absolutely nothing amateur about it. The majority of it is all freehand whereas Nabokovs is all tape and stencil.

Here's another look at the mask that shows all the deals:

I agree it's a much more difficult piece, but it's the execution of the freehand/airbrush that I'm talking about. Everything looks soft. It's odd because their portfolio shows they can execute better (Warwick Mask and Company).

But anyways, like I said, it won't affect Miller's performance. I can't wait to see Quick's mask!

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think simplicity such as Nabakov's design is the best when it comes to the Olympics. Otherwise, Miller's design is excellent for a hockey club, specifically the Rochester Americans.

I personally don't like the Dallas Cowboys' logo on Miller's forehead.

Miller's mask looks like it was done by a 7th grader in 1st period art class. Seriously, it's terrible.

Uncle Sam has been working out...

That said, I like Naby's mask quite a bit more. It has more of a "classic" feel to it.

And do the goalies really NEED a separate mask for the olympics? A short series of games where 1 goalie will get most of the minutes?

It seems like a lot of fluff to me - I would almost like to see them use their NHL (or whatever league they are in) masks, even if it clashes with their team colors.

I don't really ever pay attention to this kinda stuff but since it is semi-related, does the mask that Quick wears for the Kings still have the goalie silouette in the sunset with palm trees? I know he wears the Knight looking thing but I wasn't sure if that was the one that had the sunset on the back of it or not. I thought that looked cool.

I don't believe so, I think that was last years mask. The one he wears has the "closed helmet" of the knight on the back I believe. . .

No, the front of the mask is the closed knight helmet. The back has the 3rd jersey logo where the silhouetted goalie used to be.

I think he meant that it looks like the back of the knight's helmet, but with the Kings' logo(s). Here's the version with the regular crown logo:

And here's the version with the third jersey logo:

He should go back to that one! Or give it to me so I can put it on my desk with my Kings bobblehead and Stanley Cup with a Frolov puck in it. Or maybe I could just wear it at work.

Millers mask looks like it was designed for the Special Olympics. The simpler the better.
