Why do people think Staubitz can replace Shelley?

He dose not have the size or fighting ability as a Shelley,Parros etc...

Just because he beat the crap out of Tootoo dose not make him a brawler people

No, but McLaren can, and Murray in a pinch (heck, Clowe in a pinch)

You did good today Dougie!

6th rounder when Sather could have gone down to Dick's and picked up one of these for $100. Prettier than Shelley too.

such a weird trade from my perspective. hopefully this means good bye for brashear without him eating up cap space next year.

If true, I love this trade! Demers is a mini Dan Boyle on skates.. (minus the defense, ofcourse)

1. Enforcers are pointless in the playoffs.

2. Nothing the San Jose Sharks do before the playoffs now that they are near a lock to make them matters.

http://www.faceoff-factor.com/pittsb...lineup-options

Fights dropped 85% come playoff time in 2008, and even of those, few involve "enforcers"

http://www.hockeyfights.com/fightlog/1/pos2009

Last year, despite being in only 6 games, the Sharks were involved in 3 of the 21 fights. Heck, you take out the Ducks 13 games, and you have 14 fights for the rest of the playoffs. Few of those names are enforcers...because you don't suit them up when the games matter. If there's a Michalek-Torres cheapshot, Clowe, Murray, maybe even Thornton need to be the ones to respond, both with fists and with goals.

most over rated goalie is luongo. i do agree that lundqvist is a tad over rated but still a fantastic goalie. if he had an ok glove hand he would be the top goalie in the league. unfortunatly i worry this glove hand will be his down fall in the playoffs.

Some reaction from NY Rangers POV

(And Brashear cleared waivers this morning, so this move could have been in the works for a couple of days or more.)

Brashear put on waivers yesterday; clears today (he's signed for another year after this).

Kudos for Wilson pulling this off. Shelley's a good guy but there's just no room for him anymore.

Agreed that Shelley would have been pretty much useless for the playoffs, and freeing up as much cap space as we did is definitely a help given our situation. Will miss him, but not that much.

Since Dan Boyle is generally on skates, wouldn't that mean Demers is Dan Boyle on skates on skates?

Once again:

watch it. There will be no personal attacks on this no matter how polarizing Shelley can be.

I don't want to come back to this thread every 5 minutes having to delete another post or group of posts.

I'm shocked were getting draft picks rather than giving them away
