I'm obviously not talking about pure talent or anything else. But sometimes passion, dedication and love for the game can do a whole lot for the spirit of a team.
It would not surprise me if Subban got 40+ points next year and won the Calder...

I think he may end up being better then Markov.. Seriously, at the same age, he is well ahead of his development curve.. It's very interesting.

Agreed. There was a couple times, especially on the PP, where he was clearly the best option for a pass, and yet he never got the puck. I can't wait until the team gets used to his play, he could realistically be a Mike Green type of player for us.

It's only a game, but I was very impressed by PK. Can't wait until the guy is up permanently.

Absolutely, and in the same line of overeaction, that's also captain material when a player can inspire his teamates with such dedication.

I can't wait to see this team healthy and Subban with more experience, and the intangibles he could bring. There's reason to be very optimistic about the future.

Excitement and passion, exactly, OV is incredible in both categories plus the talent. Even if PK is only half the talent, the difference will be enormous. He will put the excitement back in the games for Habs fans even with Martin's out-moded system. and the best part it is infectious; the others will play off that enthusiasm!!!!

I noticed that too. Gomez, several times could've pass to him but didn't.

quoted for truth. As soon as hes going to have a few bad games, were gonna say he sucks, we could have picked this other guy instead of him and Habs cant develop players.

And you'll have guys like me defending every single one of his mistakes, just like some with Price.

Subban plays like Bobby Orr but he will not dominate like he did because of the talent and training we have now.

I asked my father who say more of Bobby and he agrees on his style of play.

I am curious to see more of him in defensive play. It was hilarious to see him on the PK where he was waving to get out asap, lol !!! But it may take a while if he is with Hal Gill again tomorrow. However, with Spacek out, I dunno what will be the mix !

Has amazing speed carrying the puck - his play is very INFECTIOUS.
I felt Gomez and others picked up after they saw this kid skate with the puck.

Having seen him earlier in Hamilton this year, its no surprise to me - clearly Subban was the most dominating player out there - and hes capable of playing 25-30 minutes - hes very reliable.

Damn, if we could only get all our guys back at the same time - this is going to be one scary, fast team.

I think we are in for hell of a ride to make playoffs, and Subban I hope will be a big part of it.

Dropping in to share some comments about Subban:

Great skater, I watched him in warm-ups and he's got great speed and fluidity forward and backward. During the game, he looked a little nervous to me, which is to be expected. As soon as he got the puck he would look to give it right back to Gill. He had a few nice rushes toward the end, overall not a bad first game. He's got the potential to be a very good defenseman, but I think some on here are thinking a little highly of him.

hahaha you're funnnnnny

Sorry, but his skating, vision and shooting alone will prevent him from being a "bust".

I think we're all smart enough to hold back on the he's the next Bobby Orr statements, but clearly he will provide this team a much needed young puck moving offensive D.

I can't wait to see him and Markov on the PP

Yes i will get ahead of myself. When is the last time youve seen a Hab defensman standout in his first game like PK did? The guy is legit. Hes always had his doubters and he always proved them wrong. People here were afraid to burn him, understandably, but hes not your typical prospect.

Ottawa fan here just checking the game out.

Didnt watch the game that closely but from what I saw of Subban was pretty good. Clearly a fearless player, had no trouble convincing himself to test out what he could do on the rush.

The potential of a Mike Green player is probably there, hes got the speed. Whether the creativity in passing and shooting comes we'll have to wait and see.
Another key is making sure hes surrounded by guys that can make most use of his play, like Green has. And like its been mentioned these types of wild card defencemen need time for their team to get used to them, it was a similar situation with Erik Karlsson, still a work in progress even.

Nice first game for him though, didnt look intimidated at all with his play.

Dude, your statement is way too modest to describe PK Subban's game 1st game in the NHL... His end to end rushes were by far the best by any player on both teams.

nah, i know exactly what your talking about

its regard, its attitude, its confidence, and its being 20 something years old with something to prove

people were posting "yeah k, pk should calm down a little, it might burn us" maaaan **** with that crap, its exactly when Ovechkin was rampaging on a couple of players and also got slightly injured, and they said "maybe his style is too much, maybe he should change it a bit?" what did ovechkin say? "**** that crap , i aint changing for no one and im gonna continue doing what i do, too bad", and hes now leading the league in goals and points and running away with it

Dont ask pk subban to change being pk subban, its whats gotten him to where he is today, and its gonna get him much farther, He will be our ovechkin, in terms of character and PRESENCE, i think Pk has a VERY good idea of how to become a crowd favorite and cant WAIT to play a game in montreal, and will want to play many more in the bell center, its the stage hes been waiting for all his life

I liked the kid, but I found he was trying to do too much. When he relaxes and matures he will be a good one. I know people on the Bulldogs and they have all said the same.
