NHL
Ryan Miller, Jack Johnson, Tim Thomas and David Backes are walking in the Closing Ceremonies

A reason to watch the closing ceremonies. (Guess they fly out in the morning.)

So the US won the most total medals ever in a winter games, but there are more events than there were back in the day, right? So I'm curious as to what country (and when) won the highest percentage of total medals awarded?

I'm sure it was the Soviets.

I would assume so too. I did a quick check and the Germans in '02 had a higher rate (.15 vs .14), but yeah, I bet some of the Soviet teams back in the day won an absurd amount of the total medals.

As far as I know the Olympics aren't over until the closing ceremonies. What's with removing it from the stickies. It'll be over soon enough.

God, stop talking about Lindsey Vonn! I'm so sick of hearing her whine, she's done, she was so so, she should be gone!

closing ceremonies had some comedy pieces including a bit about being Canadian by Shatner. Now we move onto the crappy portion which includes a bunch of musical acts with no regard for quality. In order it's been:

Neil Young
Nickelback
Avril Lavigne
Alanis Morissette
Simple Plan
dunno if there's more coming.

You're not missing much.

you didn't miss much. Some ok stereotypical canadian bits from comedians and a medly of mostly crappy music from here (after Hedley it was some Quebecois techno singer and a Stomp ripoff). About the only great part was at the start they poked fun at the 4th torch pillar not raising during the opening ceremonies by having a mime/clown mechanic pop out of its bay in teh floor, "fix" it so it raises, then having Catriona LeMay Doan come back so she could light the torch for real (she lit it so it would run during the ceremony and they could do the ceremonial extinguishing of it at the end)

How can you miss something that is happening right now. The actual ceremony hasn't even started I don't think, though I am a few minutes behind.

Yeah, it's starting right now. I like that they're making fun of the arm that didn't work in the opening, good job not taking things too seriously.

That was great.

Way to go Canada. Take it with a sense of humor.

It's a little sad that all the Sharks are back home or on a flight back to San Jose and don't get to go to the ceremony (at least I think I heard that on one of the local new stations).

Neil Young is awesome.

Embarrassed to have him lumped in with the rest of that filth.

Poor Pavs. On the flight home, he gets to 'enjoy' the jubilation of four very happy canucks. They'll probably tease him a bit, but given the way Pavs looked after the game - if they bugger him off too much they may want to nap with one eye open.

Woo, my ancestral homeland awarded the last medal of the games! Did they ever show any of that race? 50 kms of cross country skiing is absurd.
