Reading the Devils GDT, it's all redneck this, diving that. You'd think people would get a little more creative after awhile.

Hard to be creative when they consistently lose to us. I'm sure they will get in their attendance jabs after no one shows up because the roads are frozen over, despite having horrible attendance also.

North Jersey is the car theft capital of the world, with more cars stolen in Newark then any other city. Even the 2 largest cities, NYC and LA put together.

I guess this is why no one goes to the games in jersey, they can't afford it because they spent all their money on fake tans and hair gel.

God damnit! The NJ GDT is probably the most condescending, arrogant, insulting GDTs I've ever seen. what a bunch of ********! I guess they can do whatever they want on their board but that's ****ing garbage. No need for that at all. But fight fire with fire I say. Keep 'em coming boys. This season has sucked but as long as we beat certain teams, that will make me happy.

Have to love how they reacted to us calling Parise out for his diving a couple years back. EVERYONE in the league does it, it's part of the ****ing game anymore. But you would have thought that we had just insulted the pope or something by the way they were reacting. Then again they also have one of the biggest divers in the history of the sport in net so that in itself should render any claim they can have to "the higher ground" completely moot. **** em. Let's win this one and help the Pens take their division, their fans are a hell of a lot less condescending, not to mention nowhere near as hypocritical.

And when push comes to shove, the Pens fans can be classy. Which is more than can be said for the average Guido that cheers for Joisey.

I would hate them as much as they hate us if our team spontaneously combusted every time they met in the playoffs.

For the record, unlike like the TV show may depict...we're not all like those people. We're more civilized & classier than one show or our board may characterized.

Unfortunately, we do have a lot of wealthy, spoiled brats who don't know what an honest day's work is all about & have a lot of free time to act like jackasses.

That being said, good luck tonight. It should be a good game.

Thanks, but for the record most of us here don't actually think most of the posters on your forum are like that, let alone most people from NJ in general. Sure they exist but I doubt their the kinds of people who would be interested enough in hockey to post on a board like this... or know how to use a computer. Much more important things for them to do like trying to give their skin the colour and texture of an orange while spiking their pubic hair.

It's like the misconception about the south and NC. I'm not from NC, but I doubt anyone who frequents our board would fall into the realm of 'redneck'. It just always seems to be the first card to be pulled by other fan bases when they get bored and start bashing for no reason. It just gets pretty annoying after a while.

But yes, here's to a hard fought game!

All of you should ignore the nonsense.

I for one am a big fan of the Carolinas as a general area, mostly for the people but Aiken is going to be a beautiful place to retire when my dad moves out of...guess where... New Jersey.

Jersey has ups and downs like every other state, you can imagine being defensive when you've long been insulted in pop culture. It happens to every state. Hypersensitivity plus the anonymous internet bravado tends to bring out the worst!

This is going to be a huge game tonight, let's run it down:

*Hurricanes - Devils rematch of last season's epic first round series. In your building, and you need a big win. We just crushed Nashville to end our losing streak, now we need to build momentum also sending a handful of Olympians out.

*Expect both teams to come out flying, but you know the Canes will have extra jump wanting to establish at home. The Kovalchuk finally potted one last night so perhaps the floodgates will be open?

*Finally Brodeur will want to come up big to ensure he's Canada's correct choice, how will the Canes netminder respond? Brodeur does tend to bring out the best in opposing goalies, and why not!

Good luck and relax. It's just talk. Don't mean nothin'

If a Yankee comes down and has the guts to say it to your face, I'm sure you'll know to act accordingly.

Excuse me but don't associate NJ with ****** bags from Long Island/NY.

My family is from North Jersey and during the summers as a kid we used to go to seaside heights to my grandma's beach house. I used to LOVE going down to the shore. Very fond memories of the boardwalk and playing on the beach with my cousins and such. I loved the Jersey shore. Then that stupid show happened.

P.S. Why does everyone think the "Guido" is a new thing? Guidos have been around FOREVER.

Oh yeah, the hockey game. Want to see Boychuk called up and play with Sutter and Ruutu, doubt that will happen. Hope Picard makes it in time would love to see how he plays. Here a rumor he's going to wear 45. God I hope that's true.

The redneck thing doesn't bother me in the least. It also must not bother the Jersey folks and others from the North because they all move here.

The Hurricanes roster has him listed as wearing #45.

For you local folks, how are the roads up that way?

Wrong.

All people from New Jersey wear muscle shirts, leather jackets, have pompadours with handfuls of gel, and enjoy spending their free time tanning, posing for the camera, and beating women.

All people from North Carolina wear no shirts, have no teeth, and enjoy spending their free time distilling moonshine, fantasizing about what it would be like to know how to read, and planning how they are going to get ma and the kids down from the mountain on the horse and buggy so they can get to the NASCAR race.

These are indisputable facts.

You win. New lines for tonight (not that I would know anything about this hockey stuff):

Whitney - Staal - Jokinen
Boychuk - Sutter - Ruutu
Samsonov - Dwyer - Kostopoulos
Goertzen - Brind'Amour - Yelle

I like. Still no idea who will be the scratched defenseman.

(For what it's worth I laughed my ass off at some of the pics in that NJ thread. Also, I unfortunately may be living in New Jersey next year.)

Hopefully Picard can make it. Looking forward to seeing Boychuk again, he was looking a bit more comfortable his last call up. And most of all, it'll be nice to see Peters between the pipes again.

Good job by the gritty veteran to steal Picard's visa so he can keep his spot in the lineup for another game.
