the Hossa trade, thoughts on Esposito

now that 2 years have passed by, I wonder what you think about him, since I saw his name poped up a lot in some trade rumor threads...

I would gladly take him back to Pittsburgh for a 3rd and a 6th or something like that..

Unfortunately he keeps getting injured so it is hard to tell if he is ever going to make the team.

hossa pretty much got us

o'dell
armstrong
levielle
esposito

that's the order of importance they are to us. army's getting traded this season. depending on what he brings back i'll call it a success. levielle might pan out, esposito should if he ever stops getting hurt. o'dell is almost guaranteed to be an nhler soon.

Armstrong is/was a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, what do you think will he fetch, would a 3rd + low prospect be enough?..(wonder if somebody would give up a 2nd for him)

could see Armstrong signing with the pens in the summer, if we don't re-sign Fedotenko, and if he is willing to do it for around 1.7m/per (2~3years)..(lots of ifs there)

if we got a 2nd for Army i would take it and run. a 3rd is more realistic.

Dominic Moore got a second rounder in return!
Colby Armstrong should certainly draw more than Dominic Moore!

But, we're buyers not sellers so if Armstrong walks this summer, so be it. Same with Kubina and Afinogenov. We won't get better this year by trading any of those guys for draft choices and prospects.

The only way Colby gets traded is if we get a guy in return, like Hartnell from Philly or if he's a part for Ponikorovski, or maybe for Chris Kunitz.

"Sellers" means a team wants to stock up picks so they can trade at draft day. Get Quantity for Quality.

"Buyers" means a team is doing what it takes to make the playoff push. Not rip up the locker room just because there's a chance a guy won't come back. Get Quality for Quantity.

Our best chance is to keep what we have and buy up a replacement for White/Kozlov/Boulton.

I wish we'd upgrade the goaltending but Waddell seems to be extremely loyal to the 2 we have.
