Prucha taken off the ice on a stretcher

Quote:
Phoenix Coyotes left winger Petr Prucha was wheeled off the ice on a stretcher early in the first period Saturday night after taking a hard hit from Dallas' James Neal.

Regardless of how his time here ended, you never want to see something like this. Best of luck on a healthy return after the Olympics, Petr.

Was it a hard hit or hard elbow by Neal?

Poor Pruchs.

Poor Pruchs.
hard to say from the replay I saw on the NHL network, but Petr's head smacked into the glass pretty hard

wouldn't shock me if he had a concussion

Just saw the hit.

Normal, clean hit along the boards. Just looked like Prucha was caught off-guard or in an awkward position while following through on the shoot-around.

After seeing him get hit and knocked down so often as a Ranger, only to get right back up again, I didn't think he could be hurt. He was like a weeble wobble.

Hope he's ok.

Sorry to hear. But you can only be on the receiving end of the hit of the game so many times before one of them sticks. Get well soon, Pete.

In the thread on the main board, it was reported that he was taken to the hospital, but was conscious and moving.

Just home from the game and can report that Prucha has been released from the hospital and other than being woozy is apparently OK. The replays in the arena made it look like an elbow to the head but the video quality wasn't very good so I'll have to reserve judgement until I see more. What was bizarre about the incident is that play continued for 15-20 seconds and then after it was whistled down, it was a good 35-40 seconds before any medical attention made it to Petr. I had the glasses on him and he looked to be out cold. Next shift Hanzal (not a fighter) went after Neal and Doan took a good run at him a little later in the period. Very scary moment but it appears it will not be a serious injury.

Hope he's ok.

He's a resilient dude. How many times did we see Prucha take the nasty head down open ice hit and survive?

I have to disagree with this.

Neal could've easily finished his check without making contact with Prucha's head; I saw a deliberate motion to Prucha's head.

And for those who didn't see it, this was not a typical situation with Prucha where he's recklessly opening himself or skating into contact. It was a harmless play, he was stationary and he was dumping the puck, and he gets an elbow to the head.
