I would be pretty happy with Gregirenko and Frk being Montreal's first two picks in the draft.

Frk is gonna be a great NHL'er if he's put into the right system. I think he'd look good in a Det jersey but i dont think he's all that far away from being an NHLer.

I've always been a big Frk fan, hopefully he gets drafted into the perfect situation.

I can see him drafted by the Oilers for some reason.

He'll get drafted in the late 1st round by a team like Pittsburgh or Detroit

The Mooseheads will be a Memorial Cup contender in 2013, even more so if Frk comes back which is most likely, I can't see him making a top NHL team next year.

Looks like Frk's been killing it as of late. Any mooseheads fans that can comment on his play?

Played very very well in the 1st round vs an overmatched Moncton team. The real test for Frk (and the Mooseheads) will be vs Quebec. With scouts already there to take in Grigorenko, the series will be huge for Frk. (Considering the same teams that will have a shot at Grigorenko will be drafting again when Frk is available early in 2nd round.)

Detroit is still great for drafting players. Look at the past few seasons for some evidence of this. They look to have picked a few good players in the last few years after the first round. I think 2010 and 2011 are very good classes for Wings prospects, but it will be more evident as they reach the pro levels.

2011:

Tomas Jurco- 2nd
Marek Tvrdon- 4th
Richard Nedomlel- 6th
Alexei Marchenko- 7th

2010:

Teemu Pulkinnen- 4th
Petr Mrazek- 5th

2009:

Tomas Tatar- 2nd

2008:

Gustav Nyqvist- 4th

Anyways, back on topic.

I don't see the Wings taking a guy like Frk. If they're going to go for a Czech in the late first I think it will be Tomas Hertl if he's available. The kid has good upside and could make a move over to the AHL next season like Tatar did a couple years ago.

Do any of those players even have a single NHL game under their belt yet? I always find it strange when players are labelled draft steals when they haven't accomplished/proved anything to suggest such.

EDIT: Nyquist - 15 games, Tatar - 9 games

I consider a prospect a steal if the draft was redone 1-2 years later and that player goes many picks/rounds ahead of where they actually went.

It looked like he was scoring some real goal scorers goals in that series.

He has played C some in the past, but RW for most of this season. I'd assume he'd be drafted and developed as a RW.

That's not exactly a surprise. He missed a huge chunk of the season because of concussion issues. A very common concussion problem is that people who have them can't exercise, as it aggravates their symptoms. Hence the part of him being overweight. It's not exactly something that can't be fixed.

If Frk falls, its going to be a similar situation to Saad last year. Team's will be kicking themselves for missing out on the guy.

I saw the four home games against Moncton and he looked good. Still a bit out of shape but he is a purebred sniper, what a shot!

It's often repeated that Frk's primary weakness is his skating, but I think his conditioning is also important to be aware of, especially because it makes the skating issue that much more apparent. You'll see him labouring at the end of periods, near the end of the game or even if he's playing a long shift.

It's something he's definitely aware of (when I've gone to talk to him this year, he's always in the gym), but that's really the effect that the concussion had on his play this season. He started the year in great shape and no surprise, in the pre-season he looked dominant, but then the concussion had him sitting out three months and unable to work out.

To me, that's the big x-factor with Frk when you consider the draft: there's going to be a team who is going to talk to their strength and conditioning guys and look at Frk and think, "yeah, we can work with this" and that could potentially turn Frk into a steal. He's a bit of a project for sure, in that regard, but I think with the right environment, he's only scratching the surface of what he can do.

Frk was in the shape of his life in the preseason, then got knocked out in August and didn't really start getting back into shape until January. His first 7 games he looked off, but slowly but surely, he's returning to what we saw in the preseason... A 1st round pick.

His skating was a weakness last year, but when he takes off, you can see he's made strong strides to improve it.
His shot best in the draft? Maybe not, but boy it's something to watch, and was at NHL level since he was 15 or so.

He's got 20 goals and nearly at a PPG pace, playing 38 games. He played with Nate a lot in preseason, and is playing with him now... They have tremendous chemistry and should be one of the best 1-2 punches in the Q next year. I think he'll be a 25-30 pick for sure.

Also he's never played C... He's a RW.

I want the flyers to draft him solely because he has no vowels in his name.

Keep in mind that when he came back he was in such poor shape that he gave up his spot on the WJHC team and ended up resting further as he was then unable to play for the Moose until the WJHC's were over again. Just to put things in perspective.

After the Ivan Hilinka tournament and the preseason he was talked of as a sure fire top 10 pick, or higher. Then he got knocked out and since coming back has been trying to get back to where he was in the pre season.

No doubt about it that he is not where I hoped he would be a few years back by now but if he really falls he will end up being a potentially huge steal. He is only now starting to play like he should and he still isnt close to where he was going in to the season, and his work ethic and dedication is top notch and will help him overcome his recent obstacle and any parts of his game that need further work.

My biggest worry is him being afraid to play his style of game for fear of another concussion as he doesnt shy away from contact and plays a high risk style.

Skates and conditioning are only the obvious flaws, there are more holes to his game then that. I will just be told that I haven't seen him play so I'll leave it at that.
