I wasn't aware of the 100k per drafted player.

For anyone in the area the practice is 10am at Cole Harbour Place. He'll only be practicing with players not traveling to Saint John for their last pre-season game.

There is an offical article about this case on Karlovy Vary web page. GM of the team said that he still thinks that it would be better for Martin Frk to stay in Karlovy Vary and continue in his development. He wanted the most possible amount of money they can get for him and it was difficult negotiation. But they got what they wanted so he let him go. He also said that this is a typical example of stealing players by North American teams. Team is going to sign a professional contract with all the promising players. This should stop players from leaving their team for free.

EDIT:

I found out that there is also something from Martin Frk. Basically he said this.

"I wanted to go to Canada because I want to play in the NHL. Today I know that my previous leaving was not fair to team, coaches, teammates and fans. I want to thank to Karlovy Vary for their support and mainly to my coaches. I will never forget where I have learnt playing hockey."

At least he said he was sorry in a way. I just hope they don't ban him from playing in the national team- but that shouldn't happen, seeing as they got a lot of money for him

I understand his frustration of losing one of his top players and top draws...but stealing?

I don't think they will ban him. I admit that I don't trust to GM Vanek, but it seems to be a bad agent work.

Well, you know, training and development of players cost the team too much money to let him go for free.

So should every team along down the line claim that they had some measure in his devlopment?

If he's been developed by that team for 10 years and is under contract......ummm, yeah.

Don't compare North American development systems with European ones, they aren't remotely the same.

Well I would have prefered he stay in Czech Republic but at least hes going to a team like Halifax with a promising future. They have guys like Andrews, Ashley, Ciampini, Ryan up front to share the offensive load and Abeltshauser, Clarke and Bishop on D along with Corbeil-Theriault in net. They are all young and around the same age so this team could be a force in a few years.

Ryan IMO is big, good hands and ok skater BUT and this is a big BUT!!!!!!! he is as soft as they come, everything he does is soft, he passes super soft, takes the body so soft it is as if he is just letting the guy know he is there by tapping him on the shoulder, he has to get a bit physical, pass hard and doing things with confidence....Ciampini is looking really good at the camp though, does not like to handle the puck alot but he is amazing at finding lanes and getting open and using his amazing shot to score goals he looks like a young Brett Hull IMO...Garrett Clarke is amazing this year, if his attitude problems are cleaned up look for him to make a 1st round push this year.

Excellent players for Mooseheads: Ciampini, Turbid, Clarke, Boudreau, Ashley, Desjardins, Bety, Lemieux , Lewis, Gelinas, Corbile and Delmas

Still waiting for more: Brent Andrews

Just not doing it: Bishop, Terenzino, Hannay (NHL drafted, I still dont know why, but not looking good).

With the addition of Frk this team will be very very good this year...I never went to my teams camp this year, and decided to stay back and watch the Moose camp since I am still a Moose fan because I live in Hailifax.

I played in 1 minor hockey association since i was 5 all the way till I was 15 and left for junior.

Thats 10 years in one place on the same team with the same name year after year.

Tell me how that is any different

I'm so looking forward to seeing him. I think he is going to become a fan favourite quickly.

There's nothing ground breaking, but I would love if people have first hand accounts of Frk's play to visit and comment:

It's About Frk-ing Time

I hope to attend a lot of games and give some firsthand account on a regular basis throughout the season.

If anyone knows what number he has traditionally warn that would nice to know.

Right, but did your hockey association pay 100% expenses for those 10 years and were you under contract with that association? If yes, I'll gladly concede....however, I strongly doubt that it was the case.

Frk was developed in a school run and paid for by a professional team with the intention that their investment in him will pay off in the future.

Again, apples/oranges compared to the North American development structure and it should be viewed as such.

but you know what...in North America players grow up like in Halifax area playing for the Dartmouth Whalers organization then going some where in the USA to play prep school LEAVING there team that made them what they are behind and instead of playing Midget in Nova Scotia there attributes are used in the USA team instead...I know your saying a pro team is paying for those players but you know what Hockey is a business and players have to do what is best for them for THEIR future. So remember hockey is a business and in business sometimes investment pay off or flop it is a crap shot.

Yes, so the team is trying to do its best. I understand that GM is upset because of losing the best players for free after all those years of development.

I wanted to add two interesting things.

1) GM promised Martin Frk playing for men in Czech extraliga from January.

2) Machala and Walsh can't be agents of any player from Karlovy Vary because of this case.

All Czech GM always promise young talented players playing for men but the reality is entirely different...
You canīt buy that Czech GM say regarding their young players. Unfortunately...
Maybe Frk would actually start playing for men since January but I can guarantee you that it would be usually five shifts on fourth line. I have different idea of developing of top prospect...

I wish the Q would adopt the OHL and WHL's website layout... so much easier to follow.
