Sweet, that means he can actually be called up next year if we're tight against the cap. I've really wanted to see him at the NHL level.

The most interesting part is that they've practically guaranteed him a roster spot in two years. The second year of his contract is one-way, which means he'd be getting paid $0.5M even if he were in the AHL.

only if he plays at the NHL level. He makes 65K in the A. He has a two way contract.

Yeah, but for the purposes of discussion here the AHL salary isn't really important.

He's going to be a late bloomer one way or the other. Looks like the 2nd year he is going to be on an NHL roster one way or the other. If Murray doesn't improve between now and after next season ends, I'd hope Moore is ready to step in as a physical #5 to replace Murray.

What does that evenb mean?

He's a reasonably good skater from highlights I've seen and scouting reports, perhaps a bit better than Murray.

Is he a quick/mobile defenseman?

I know he's better than Murray but I was just trying to confirm what I remember about him - he's on a slower side, rather than quicker, right? He's closer to Murray with his movement and skating, rather than Vlasic?

Replace Murray? In the next season and a half? I'm confused. We aren't happy with Murray?

Good for Moore, I can't wait for him to get his chance. A little sad that having a good year in the AHL means he gets a pay cut, but I suppose the guarantee to be in the bigs, or get paid like it, in two years is worth it. I hope with the small contract he gets a fair shot at the NHL next year.

Moore doesn't have Murray's brutal physiology and raw strength, but he has the potential to be better in other areas of the game. He is more mobile and better offensively.

If he turns out to be Nik Kronwall, it'll be beyond words.

Would it be legal to have Moore and Murray on the same line?

Think Moore-Murray would have a similar effect?
