No, and I never did. He'd cost us waaay more than just actually worth, and he's far from a solution

I'M still a fan of Vincent Lecavalier and would love to add him to our team. However, I don't see how we can get him unless we trade Scott Gomez the other way.

Hell yeah but how can we fit him in with gomez and plekanec, now?

The way I see it, Gomez and Vinny are both overpaid. Gomez is doing ok in Montreal, Vinny seems to get tired of Tampa Bay's new organization... Lecavalier is a better player, much better.

Would Tampa accept two good prospects and Gomez for Vinny alone?

This is the problem, I don't want to sacrifice the future for Lecavalier

Given his NTC, I think the question is does Vinny still want Montreal?

To Tampa:
Price, Leblanc or Maxwell, and Gomez

To Montreal:
Your Savior

I'll counter with Weber, Maxwell and Gomer for Vinny.

Yeah... it's a better offer.

Honestly, mayyybe I could cope for Leblanc, but Price and Leblanc, really? Montreal get bent over hard.

Maxwell, Weber and Gomer for Lecavalier seems good for me. Perhaps D'Agostini, Maxwell, Weber and Gomez too.

Well, if somebody would tell me that the salary cap would disappear in 2011 or 2012 (next CBA negociations...), yes.

Otherwise, no.

I can't even tell if it's serious. Price isnt just another throw-in you can add to a deal for the sake of it, I wouldnt even trade Price for Lecavalier straight up and we have to give our first rounder too... geeeeez

Gomez can easily be traded to a lower-market team in 2 years, when he'll actually be worth his salaries of 5.5M and 4.5M in the final two years in his contract. If anything that should be an advantage to Tampa and we shouldn't have to add much.

I'd still give one or two good prospects along with Gomer if not for the only fact I prefer trading prospects for a real, while overpaid, good player than for some rentals...

doesn't the cap hit remain the same throughout the duration of a contract? i don't think the fact that a contract is front loaded really matters.

Some teams havea self-imposed cap, and so, Gomez's cap hit is sort of irrelevant to them.

His salary in the last 2 years are quite reasonable.

If a teams owner has made a point of spending no higher than 45 million, taking gomez's 7 million cap hit would cripple a teams ability to be competitive regardless of how little he was actually getting paid. An owner without any clue of how the cap effects a team would love to have Gomez in a few years...but the owner doesn't make the moves...it's the general manager and he'd know that the cap hit is what matters most when it comes to icing a productive team.

if the offer was price/halak (MTL's choice) + Gomez for Lecav I'd take it and run if I'm TB, after seeing today's game he was completely overshadowed by stamkos/st. louis.
