Maybe include Linus Omark in the deal.

Hey, the Oilers did, why not?

Sure. But the Pens will need to replace Shero with Tambellini first.

I suspect Pisani or Comrie, minor deal for a pick. Moreau could be a possibility if the 1 year left doesn't scare them.
That's about it. Nothing major.

Come on, the Staal speculation is just silly. Try to think like the other team for a moment. There is no reason why PIT would want to make a huge change this late in the season for a team that, for the most part, is having a good year. Moreau or Pisani makes the most sense.

we have a lot of small skill forwards and some small skill prospects as well. If we were to move a current small forward plus someone like Omark, it would be zero impact to our future.

A guy like Omark might flourish playing with Crosby or Malkin.

rusty + 1st for POS, Comrie or Nilson plus Omark could work for both teams

If Penns end up with the Pens then I know who I'm cheering for in the post season. I'd love to see the guy regain confidence and start dominating again like he was in the first half of the season.

But if it's Cooke coming back in return, I'll meet all you guys in the parking lot outside the Oilers offices. Bring your own torch.

Actually, looking at the roster, Staal would be the only return I'd be satisfied with giving up Penner. Well, there's a few other guys but no way PIT trades those names.

My guess, if Penner does get traded (hopefully not) it's to the Sens who sound like still want him.

My guess if there is anything to this at all, Moreau or Pisani for a light prospect or late pick. I'd like to see it, and then see the Pens win the cup. These vets paid their dues, and believe it or not, they deserve it.

I agree trading for Staal is crazy talk now. But wait for the draft/free agency period. If Gonchar doesn't resign we could have a defenseman (vish/gilbert/souray) (If they aren't traded) that Pitts might want.

Would look good riding shotgun to Malkin. That being said, Shero is usually very careful with cap considerations and POS's 2.9 hit probably isn't overly appealing. That makes me think Comrie or Pisani.

If it is any of those 3, I'd think the expected return would be:

POS - 2nd rder
Comrie - 3rd rder
Pisani - 4th/5th rder

Really hope its POS.
Rolanson was a conditional trade.

Pisani's 14 Playoff goals was the 2nd best total since the lockout.

Oh and the one year we play him on the PP he is top 25 in PP goal scoring rate.

Hmmm! What team could use a Playoff scorer, who is top 40 Pk guy and can score on the PP.

Pittsburgh maybe!

Cogliano, Grebeshkov and a mid-round pick/lower-end prospect for Staal?

I'm not saying that will happen, just a proposal.

And yes, I know there's a thread for that, I just put in my .02 cents along with the other proposals.

Really would not surprise me that Pisani is the most sought after guy from the Oilers at the deadline.......he is a UFA, has a tremendous track record in the playoff, can be a very good 2 way player and could be a cheap pickup in terms of compensation... condition pick in all likelihood

I'm leaning towards Pouliot, all the Olympic talk of Bergeron / Crosby combo has Shero thinking about MAP now. Plus, they could get him for next to nothing.

Yep...MAP for a 5th.

FYI Staal lovers...Shero is not a moron, nor is he stupid...therefore he wont move his third best forward before the playoffs. Its rediculous.

ALSO...Dustin Penner for a 1st, prospect and player is rediculous, he's not Kovalchuk! If we could get a 1st OR a blue chip prospect for him I'd be estatic. that being said, I'd rather hang onto him until at least next years deadline.

A small point for those willing to throw the kitchen sink @ Staal:

capgeek.com --> Start: 2009 End: 2013 Cap Hit: $4,000,000 (UFA)

He is only signed for 1 year past Penner's contract. Perhaps their trade value is more even then most think. The Pens top 6 would be even more kick ass with Penner added to it. Many thought Ryan Whitney was unattainable unless it was a huge return.

Do not trade Penner.

Staal is not a star you build your team around, Penner gets traded for a star only.

I know Penner isn't a star himself, but Oilers need him more than they should be trading him.

Trade other pieces for Staal, but not Penner.
