It's been good of late, but I don't think Bernie Parent looks at Leighton with ANY kind of envy.

I pointed this out before. Leighton seems to have a very good glove hand but struggles with just about everything else.

Position and rebound control has been sort of helped by a legitimate goalie coach (for a change) and an incredibly deep defense.

sure he does, everyday he wakes up and notices that pads have tripled in size since his playing days and wonders how many more cups he could have won if he was padded up like overstuffed thanksgiving turkeys the way they are now

He's very, very strong at making the first stop. He has large holes in his game elsewhere but our defense has been terrific. Unfortunately, I am not convinced that that will translate to playoff success, especially against the teams that are better at 2nd and 3rd chances.

Leighton also has quick legs for covering the bottom corners, but (as everyone has said) doesn't control the shot into the corner to eliminate the rebound. He's also going to get burned one game with his behind-the-net play: stop the puck and shovel it backwards to the corner.

I keep expecting Leighton to fail, and he has proven me wrong on most every night so far.

for you, Michael Leighton!
