I'd be generous and give a 3rd rounder + D'Agostini

Yeah our defense is quite solid. I watched the USA game earlier today and their defense seemed quite weak. Felt like I was watching the Habs defense out there They gave the Swiss so many odd man rushes

The first thing I thought of when I heard the goal song was:

"Sweet... I bet Habs haters are freaking out"

Didn't Canada "retire" #19 for the Olympics? If I recall correctly, Sakic and Thornton didn't wear it in Torino.

Took this from the GDT on the Olympic boards

Quote:
Why was the pro-Canadian crowd in #Vancouver booing Canada goalie #Luongo, who is also a Vancouver Canuck? He's been soft lately, but boos?

Same here! I tried that little trick on my wife, who doesn't watch any hockey outside of the Habs, and even she told me "I'm not stupid Shawn, I can clearly hear them chanting Luuuuuu".

Trolling or not though, I can't help but chuckle at this.

Is it me or Brenden Morrow completely useless out there? He's slow and I don't see that much grit from him. If they wanted a 4th liner, I'd much rather have Alex Burrows there with his speed.

The biggest thing I worry about on Team Canada is that guys like Heatley, Thornton, Marleau will disappear when the game is on the line. I found Heatley unimpressive at the last world championships. Marty St.Louis definitely outplayed him and yet wasn't added to the roster. Totally bizarre. Heatley was also invisible in the Stanley Cup finals and I think he lacks character. I'd rather have Jeff Carter or St.Louis over him, even if they have to play out of position.

You just have to pray the other guys like Staal, Getzlaf, Toews, etc will step it up in the later stages of the game. I suspect they will as the latter 3 are known as clutch players.

The overall speed of Team Canada isn't great too...so they're going to have to use their size to their advantage by driving the net and screening the goalie for tips.

two questions:

1. did i hear them boo when luongo touches the puck?
2. is the roster limited to 19 players, or they can dress 23 players and have all of them play?

According to IIHF rules, you can dress 20 skaters (Russia dressed 8 Dmen and 12 forwards, Canada dressed 7 Dmen and 13 forwards).
