The Caps could use Kubina. Otherwise this doesnt do much for the Caps

Atlanta gets bent over.

Give up one of their top two defensemen, Their prized FA and arguably best forward, a solid top six forward. They get a bunch of crap back.

atlanta get's brutally ***** behind a gas station and washington gives up a very good player for a rental winger(something they have plenty of) and a not so great d-man

montreal makes out very well. no way.

Why is it, that just because Atlanta fans have finally refused to subsidize the ownership for a bad product over the last 10 years,
every numbnut out there thinks we hillbillies would be willing to give up every bit of remaining talent for urinal cakes????

Atlanta fans actually know quality and a change is finally happening.

The next thing you know, some idiot will make up an Atlanta to Whineypeg rumor and Eklund will fly off the handle and add something stupid like Waddell runs the hockey and bball teams! Good gosh! Basketball minds across the country would be laughing their ***** off if they even knew Eknerd even existed, much less what he just made up.

And now you know the rest of the story.

This thread is OVA!

So Atlanta gives up Kubina (possibly the top rental D man if they wind up out of the playoffs) and Afinogenov (Excellent rental F), and Antropov (Having an amazing season and signed for 3 more years) in exchange for...

wait for it...

Scott Gomez, prospect, 1st, 3rd.

WOW.

Waddell ≠ Bobsled Gainey

what else would you want for 2 UFAs and only one player that is guaranteed to be around come year end

How about not Scott Gomez?

The idea of trading rentals is to ADD to the future value of the franchise, not diminish it.

Much, much, much more. Those three players would more than likely be the 3 best players on the block at the deadline if they were available, and Afinogenov is at a salary cap hit that any team can afford to take on.

I mean how do the Habs end up getting Kubina, Antropov, AND Fehr for what they give up....give the Thrashers Fehr as well and it is still not a good deal for Atlanta.

Thrashers get ***** 10 different times.

Antropov, imo, is playing the best hockey of his life. He is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blowmez.

Seriously what a horrible proposal. Kubina could land a prospect and a 1st rounder himself.

The Kovalchuk package is infinitely better than what the other guy offered for THREE of Atlanta's best players.

Crap? Maybe not, but not a great deal for sure.
