Silent Bob

Apparently that's Esche's new nickname.

Hmmmmmmm...I like that.

And with certain personalities on the team, maybe we could have a "JR and Silent Bob" or something brewing. It could easily replace "Coatesy's Corner" during each intermission.

"easily" being the key word here. Great idea.

On ESPN yesterday Melrose said that "Silent Bob" has not talked to the media once in the playoffs so far... I wonder if this is just superstition or he has beef with them not thinking he could handle the playoffs??

Personally, I hope it is because he had a beef, because he sure as hell deserves the right to have a beef... he's made them all look like idiots.

I'm not so sure about that. In articles written after the first two games, there's numerous Esche quotes.

No Barry, that's not true at all. I saw an interview with Esche/Levy/Pang after the 35 save 3-0 shutout of the Devils in the 1st round.

The "Silent Bob" thing has to be something different. Maybe it's just that Esche won't talk to Melrose.....

he is pissed off at the local media i know that. Everyone was doubting him for some of those bad games he had down the stretch. Now he is shutting everyone up with his play so far. 11 goals allowed in 7 playoff games, and i really cant recall a goal that he should have had. they were all great plays and great shots that have beaten him.

Think he was boycotting pre game media stuff...distracting him with dumb questions about his confidence. Heard a quick spot on the radio today so don't know how accurate it was...looks like a smoothe move though.

Whatever works for him.

This playoff season I have held no superstitions and we're doing pretty good.

I have used plenty of superstitous actions, such as not watching any other TV besides Flyer games. I have been doing this since the end of the regular season, and sure as heck won't start till the end. Also I wear my vintage Flyer jersey the day of the game and during the game.
