Backes didn't break Julien Sprunger's neck. Backes hit him, and the boards broke his neck. It was a clean hit, which unfortunately lead to an injury and now the Swiss player is crying about it.

But if "Dregor" said it....

Pretty borderline, in my opinion. But, borderline things happen, it's a fast game, just as long as it's not a reoccurring thing. I don't know what Backes said, but if he is spouting off it's unacceptable.

If you ever actually played the game trash talking goes on all the time. I guess I am a kid then because I have been known to do this sort of thing.

I do not think this crossed the so called line but is sure was a dumb thing to say seeing what is said on the ice does not stay there anymore. It use to be nobody repeated what was said and that is how it should be. I do not know how this came out but I am sure a lot worse has been said. I use to go to many WHL games in the past and the things some of the players use to say was not any better so may be this is just part of the gamesmanship that still goes on in the NHL or the Olympics.

A clean hit involves both of your hands coming up into the guys face?

Why a lot of their athletes have jobs. Doesn't participating on Dancing with the stars count as a fulltime job?

The guy wasn't even standing up, yet it's a clean hit?

Backes did not even apologize to him. Though he may have displayed remorse to the media, he didn't attempt to call him.

Trash talking over a video game? Yup, pretty juvenile. Just because it's common doesn't mean it's mature.

If he didn't break his neck why did he threaten to do it again? If player "a" hits player "b" in a way which causes his neck to break, then player "a" broke his neck. No one regards the ice at fault for breaking Steve Moore's neck, or the boards guilty of injuring Souray earlier this year when he was tripped by Iginla.

Just because he's American and plays on behalf of your Nation, doesn't mean he isn't responsible for his actions.

If we're keeping it hockey related then we will own the podium, just like we did on your home soil in 2002 (even though you had the refs cheating for your women's team).

You have an Oiler on your blueline, too bad for you there is no draft after the games are over.

Isn't the line "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" part of your national anthem?

Maybe in the ufc, but forearm shivers were banned from the nhl since about 1926.

You have serious issues, all kidding aside. For your own sake, ignore the voices inside your head and seek immediate psychiatric help.

There is no proof of this... just like Avery apparently made fun of Blake's Cancer, only to find out later, it was a media fabrication.

what i was saying is that if this did happen it was in bad taste. If and I do mean If this did happen, this would be worse than anything avery said or didn't say allegedly. Besisde avery is a ritard at least other guys in the same ilk like downie will occasionally take their medicine and he has also become one of TB best players. Avery is just bad taste.
