Does Souray have any value

Do you guys think Souray has any trade value with his injury or do you think his trade will wait until after July 1st?

The one good thing about waiting until after July 1 is that his NTC is done.

As of right now I'd say Moreau has more trade value then Souray. Not too many teams want to risk give up something for an injuried player. It will really depend what his status is after the Olympics. Might be better off waiting until the draft to move him or after Free agency when some teams are left looking for someone.

I think he does.

According to this article the Oilers could be "blessed" with Wade Redden if they trade Souray to the Rangers...

Well that article is an opinion based artilce based on a opinion based article. And it doesn't say Redden to Edmonton.

The New York Post suggested the fact the Rangers are on the list of preferred destinations for Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray might tempt Sather to try and land the hard-shooting blueliner – but only if he can move either Michal Rozsival’s $5-million per season cap hit or Wade Redden’s $6.5-million per.

I don't post here a lot so someone might have to give me some clarity on what you mean by this.

I posted a link to The Hockey News. It's not Ecklund crap or anything like that, and I gave the actual link. I also never claimed that it was a trade, and clearly used a word 'could' in my post.

What the heck could I possibly have done wrong that would get me banned from this forum?

Honest question here.

I would rather keep Souray than Redden. He at least brings certain benefits to a team... his value is still positive, if very minimal due to his contract, age, and injury status. Redden on the other hand, has negative value. He's the Ranger version of Horcoff (that's a trade worth considering).

As would I, Redden is probably the only person in the league with a worse contract.

Outside of his injuries Souray is a great leader and contributor on any team. Sadly "his injuries" are of no minor consequence.

Thought you knew it is impossible for this moderators to ban a poster from a specific Board; we either get banned completely from the site or not at all...

I was bored - did not expect you to take my response seriously...

Sry...........

Oilers will be stuck with the contact--Souray is fragile and the only predictablity is that for every good year he has--he has another that is a waste

or in the case with the oilers 2 years that are a waste and 1 year that is good--so 1 good year cost 16mill

Actually, that is not true...Posters can be banned from threads and from Boards.

In any event, I would not say that Redden is the only player in the league with a worse contract than Souray. When healthy Souray's deal is not that bad. This is especially true for a team with cap space but budget concernss since he only earns $4.5M per year for the rest of his deal.

I would 150% rather keep Souray than Redden. The only way I would even consider taking Redden is if Dubinsky was some how involved in the trade. Rozsival would be a little easier too take because his contract ends 11/12 season and he's a lower cap hit.

Rosival and Drury for Horcoff and Souray.

Not sure I like it, but I wonder if that has been tossed around between the two GM's.

The only thing I don't mind is that we'd lose the longest contract in Horcoff.

Also all 4 might have NTC, 3 for sure.

wait till July 1. Then move him to one of the budget teams.

At 4.5M in real salary Souray is a good bang for the buck. The Oilers might even be able to get good assets back.

ya i think he have value

most likely a fading prospects (probably a former first rounder who has yet to make it) plus a late first or second rounder along with a salary going back around 2 to 3 mil for the year (old guy no one wants)

I'd be ok with something like Vandermeer and Turris.

Imo we would be better off trading Souray in the offseason. His value is at an all time low right now.

I absolutely refuse to believe that Souray is lacking in value. His contract isn't that bad. He brings a lot of things that a lot of teams want.

If we had a respectable group of forwards I have no doubt that Grebs, Gilbert, Souray and Lubo would be on pace for similar/better numbers than last season.
