Dan Carcillo

http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|PHI|home

After a rough start to his tenure, he really has become one of the most liked players on the team. Although the deal was still an overpayment, he's beginning to make it look better.

I was hard on him when we first got him last year, but he's grown on me this year, and he's been keeping his cool much better as the season goes along. You take away one punch and he's not even in the top in PIM in the league

If not for Stevens can you imagine how good Downie will be in a year or two once he gets his behavior under control?

Strange, I was looking for the same article about Powe and could not find it.. Still, Powe>Carcillo

Most improved player on Flyers roster is Carcillo. No question about it.

If God exists, his name is Daniel Carcillo.

If I weren't a male, I'd marry him.

The thing is with Downie, I'm not so sure he'll ever learn to control his temper. I'd hate to see him road raging

He's getting rave reviews in TB and his numbers are good.

To really make it he needs the right kind of coach. A guy who won't take any nonsense even while the players play an aggressive hard nosed game (Laviolette would have been good for him, Tocchet also fits the bill.

I also think playing with another hardnosed player who has learned the right way to do things would help a lot. I think Lappy has been GREAT for Carcillo's development.

I'd rather have Downie, but I will admit Carcillo has grown on me quite a bit. I still worry about when he'll lose it and kill the team with a poorly timed penalty, but he's far less likely to do so than Hartnell.

Carcillo was leading the league in penalty minutes for number of years and he was doing a lot of dumb stuff..

If you watched Downie is WJC when he was taking an elbow from JJ and did not retaliate. He can get it under control with a good coach. It is very easy for fans to say well, do not take penalties but those type of players are hot heads with short fuse and we have no idea how much yapping going on on teh ice.

I think Downie will be a hell of a player in a few years. A playoff player that will drive you nutz. He has very good chance to be the type of player I've descrived. He will do anything to win.

He has reigned in his antics, but he still is a wild-card who has the ability to lose his temper at the wrong time. I think a deal commensurate with Betts at 700K is in order, but I would limit it to two years max.

That's awesome. I was one of the few who had his back in the thread when he got traded here, I knew this fanbase would start to come around. If he gets extended I'm totally getting a jersey.

Philly has played back-and-forth with TB before, so who knows. Maybe Downie will be a Flyer again.

He'll get more than that. He is not a 4th liner. He can easily be a regular 3rd liner and basically any team in the league and I think he can be a good compliment with the right guys on the 2nd line.

He hasn't lost his temper since Laviolette came in. He got a misconduct the other night but he didn't lose it. He got tripped and then when he was on his knees he got boarded. I don't mind a guy not getting off the refs back about that.

I love carcillo, to me is one of the best 4th liners in the league. As a 3rd liner he is probably around average. Id love for the flyers to extend him.

Well, he hasnt looked bad on the 4th pairing, but he still looks 100% out of place any higher. He just doesnt fit on a scoring line. His agitating and fighting are his positives. His skill though... yea definitely not this 50 point player some made him to be

You just said what I was going to -- although I still have a concern that he's going to pull something really, really stupid, get an extended suspension, and the Flyers will pay for it. So far, so good though.

Liked Carcillo since he was in Phoenix. Was psyched when we got him, will be psyched when we resign him. I still don't think the 2nd rounder was an overpayment.

I think it was, only because we sent them a better player to begin with. But it's out of Carcillo's control what he was traded for obviously, all he can do is kick ass, and by my ledger he is kicking a fair amount of it.

Carcillo has been playing great with Gagne and Richards. He's showing some real skill and speed. Very good passes and gets open too. Keep it up.

Not true. They generated all kinds of chances against the Devils, just couldn't finish them. Gagne and Richards looked energized by Carcillo's presence.
