IMO.

The Sedin's are 29 and their career best seasons are 84 and 82 pts (wich Henrik will beat this year tho)
Backstrom is 22 and already has a 88 pts season. By the age of 29, he'll probably have a few 100 pts season.

There's just no way a NHL GM would take the Sedin's before Backstrom + Semin.

The Sedin's hype by Canucks fan is getting ridiculous...

Have you watched the Sedin's play?I think many GM's would take the Sedin's over Semin+Backstrom.Put the Sedin's on the same line as Ovechkin and I assure you they would hit 110+ points.

Henrik Sedin
61 GP 25 G 55 A 80 PTS
on pace:105 PTS

Backstrom
62 GP 26 G 50 A 76 PTS
100 PTS

Edge Sedin

Daniel Sedin
43 GP 16 G 38 A 54 PTS

Alex Semin
53 GP 30 G 35 A 65 PTS

Sedin is in a different league defensively so I give the edge to him. This is with the Backstrom and Semin playing with the best player in the game and the best offensive defenceman.

Backstrom has more value thanks to his age and likely a more controllable contract thanks to him hitting RFA status without being eligible for arbitration. Semin is a year from UFA status though and making $6mill already, either Sedin has more value IMO than Semin does at this point.

As for offense, the best winger that the Sedins have every had is Burrows. Backstrom has put up a lot of points early centering Ovechkin - you'd have to be nuts to think that doesn't inflate any player's stats. If Ovechkin was playing next to the Sedins, their point totals would be better as well. The best season they've had offensively so far has been with Anson Carter next to them - the guy who was dealt 3 times in one year before he arrived in Vancouver, and traded twice and then pushed out of the NHL entirely the year after he was with the Sedins - and every goal he scored in Vancouver was assisted by either one or both Sedin.... if they had Ovechkin there instead, I don't see how you could legitimately argue that he wouldn't have inflated their stats.

so this turned from a stupid trade proposal into a Sedins VS Backstrom/Semin war?

Lame.
