TSN giving a shoutout to the San Jose German hockey factory. At one time, 6 of the players on team Germany were Shark property.

and oooooh Marco, so close. I miss him in teal more than any other ex-Shark.

Me too, I think it's safe to say he's one of the more popular former Sharks. It would have been awesome for him to score on that rush.

Now it's time for the German PK to step up.

because Krupp is a moron. Or he likes to give rational German hockey fans the shaft.

(ok really it's in part because the Germans are playing on back-to-back days and they probably want Greiss in net tomorrow for a team they stand the best chance of beating)

Yeah. If you check the Yahoo! gallery pics posted, the url is basically 'hockeyfinger' woooo

DAMN. That was an awesome chance for Sturm, and now the Finns are on the PP.

Dagnabbit. German PK just has no answer. I'm gonna blame Patzold. I presume Greiss will get all the starts when the elimination round starts.

I suspect it'll be start, not starts, in the elimination round

although now I'm leaning more towards the top answer than the more logical answer in parentheses.

Hospelt #6? Too bad he didn't register a game with SJ.
I'm kind of sad we essentially purged our pipeline of Germans.
At least we still have Greiss...and Heatley.

well, they were bound for the elimination round either way. I really didn't expect them to get the bye.

And Bielke, right? I presume he is too young (or not good enough) to make the olympic team yet.

Yeah, I had Hospelt as the 6th. Which is why I said "system" and not "roster".

and they can restart the pipeline next draft with Kunhackl and Grubbauer. I actually really want them to take Grubbauer. He's looked very good in the OHL and like I said before they drafted Pielmeier "you can never have enough German goalies"

Figured as much.

As for Grubbauer, I already like him based on name alone. Imagine a tandem of Sexy and Grubby. Yeaaaah.

Considering the man-crush, it could very well be vice-versa.

I first saw Grubbauer playing against the Americans at the 09 WJCs. He did alow like 3 goals on 15 shots, but considering how outmatched the Germans were and the fact that Grubbauer was like 16 or 17 at the time, he looked impressive (kind of how Greiss looked impressive vs the Canadians at the Torino Olympics)

I know the pipeline is filled with goalies right now, but I'd still love to see Grubbauer drafted. He could stay in the OHL for another 2 years, by which time it's plausible that the depth chart has thinned out somewhat.
