Yeah it's a small concern, but there's a decent crop of UFA dmen this summer, and we can always try to re-sign Leo or Seidenberg.

Again though, I don't hate the trade either. I'm just saying if I had my 'druthers, I would prefer a player of similar value at a different position.
Maybe it's not a big deal though not getting fair value back for Salak or Cheverie down the road, just as examples. Cheverie was a 7th round pick so no big loss. Salak was signed for free. You might have to let them go for little value, but if Crawford does well here and is a good and cheap backup to Markstrom for a few years, then it's probably worth it. Question is, does it make you stronger? If yes, then it's not a bad move.

If I had my druthers, I'd want a player of similar value at a different position too, but I wouldn't complain about Crawford either.

Vokoun played really well in the Olympics. The Czech's kinda got screwed with having to kill off a delay of game penalty(I might be wrong) and then Kubina had to retrieve his helmet because a player cannot play without his helmet and then the Finns scored. Overall he was really good.

Glad to see he made it out healthy.

Vokoun was great, and yes that goal was scored because Kubina's helmet came off, and by Olympic rule, players can't play without a helmet, so Hagman was left all alone in front.

The Czechs gave Vokoun little goal support throughout the tournament. He must have felt like he was playing for the Panthers...

I wasn't sure if it was for a delay of game penalty. Two horrible rules.

Did you guys see where Jagr basically blamed Vokoun.

"It always comes to the goaltender, whoever makes better saves," Jagr said. What an idiot you get shutout and say the goaltender wasn't good enough.

Great. Someone posted that Jagr is thinking of coming back to the NHL. Let's be sure to pick him up.

Jagr always was a crybaby, especially in his penguin days, and even today he'd still be a perfect emotional match to their two current stars.

IDK, I feel like he's probably just referring to that miracle clutch save that Kipper had at the end off of Jagr. I don't think he meant to slight Tomas, and the reporters are idiots in Vancouver (see "How do you feel right now after being embarrased by Canada" to Ovie ). Who knows if it was taken out of context or whatever, but I think he probably means that a game like that always comes down to a goalie duel with some miraculous saves thrown in. Vokie was awesome, but it did come down to that save Kipper made at the end.

Well, back on talking about Tomas Vokoun, he's expected to sit on Tuesday with Clemmensen getting the start. In my opinion, this should have been done BEFORE the break. Now we're looking at a nearly assured loss to start the home stretch.

Eh, I don't even care anymore.

GR has pete saying vokoun is a big part of this panther's future. hard to imagine that as a negotiating ploy before deadline. perhaps sexton has decided there wasn't a good trading partner after all. i've seen more embarrassing about-faces but i'm guessing this means the naysayers in this thread (about dealing vokie) will be happy.

I looked at that quote and thought, right, like the morning dew has a big future on a sunny afternoon.

PS-To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition of future is? Years, Months, Weeks, Days, Hours or Minutes?

Vokoun can be a big part of the Panthers future by being traded this week. The future landscape of the team could change... I'd say that's a big part.

right - a coach is going to be that cheeky? when talking about the most important player on the team??? give me a break.

after looking at the actual quote tho, it appears the future GR referenced in his tweet is really "the next 20 games".

Well, Pete didn't really say that much. We don't know what he exactly even said or what it was in reply to. He might think he's a big part of the Panthers' future, but Sexton might have other plans. Not to read too much into it, but he's not playing Tuesday, just saying. Could be because he might be getting traded.

I don't really believe anything Deboer/Sexton says. The trades or lack there of, on deadline day will do all of the talking.

That would be the best trade in Panthers history.

Auld's on re-entry waivers now. If we're able to move Clemmer out somehow, I'd like to have Auld here for the rest of the season. He's a UFA after this season. Hell, if we're able to not bring Huet in, he could be our starter again, then we could have billboards that say:

Here comes Hall!

Eh, yeah. I was kinda trying to go for irony. But that WAS a steal.

But in reality, would you mind that trade? Knowing Vokoun is likely to walk next year, and we have to go through Bouw/Louie BS eggshell walking all season...That would prolly be the best we could get. I just wish I knew about Versteeg...time to fire up NHL 10. (BTW, if we wanna call NHL 10 an accurate source for player scouting, Huet was laying BRICKS in net last time I played the Hawks.)

After that, we'd still have Leopold, Stillman, Seidenberg, Olsez, Campbell to sell...

Sometimes, I wish these things would really happen.

My bet? We'll trade Seidenberg for a 2011 3rd and call it a day.

I wouldn't get excited about that trade, but know all too well that it could be much worse.

I'd love Auld, too. Contract ends at the end of the year, and he sucks so much he'd allow us to tank...

TFP is saying, yeah I know it's TFP but, we are looking at Theodore (UFA), Carlson or Johansson, and a pick for Huet. Both guys are supposed to be studs.
