USA win.

/thread

/off sarcasm - I want to see USA vs Russia final...

Upd. In fact, being Russian myself, if/when this happen, I'll be rooting for USA - they're showing that team "heart and spirit".

Only tough, nervous games for everyone involved here on out.

As a USA fan, I really think it's important they get a goal early.

The Swiss have been awesome so far...this game should be fairly close, but I see the States taking it.

Definitely want to see some good hockey and not a blowout. USA needs to win so we see the epic Canada - USA rematch. Should they beat Russia.

Go Cally and Drury!

USA should win. Switzerland has about 20 hours off from the last game. I think the USA has a lot more energy than the Swiss.

I expect to see Backes, Callahan, and company to really set the tone early and try to find out just how much the Swiss have left in the tank after playing 70 minutes of hockey against Belarus.

Kane, Parise, and Stastny need to show up. Our bottom 6 has probably been the best of all the teams in the tourney so far, but at this stage of the competition your best players need to be your best players. We know Miller will be up for the challenge, but those guys have to find a way to put the puck in the back of the net.

Easy win for Team USA
Swiss are way too tired...and Hiller is not strong in back-to-back games (maybe Stephan starts?)

5:1 win for US Team

It should be a great game. Both teams is playing with alot of speed and heart. Think it's gonna be a close call but USA takes it.

It all depends of a good start for the Swiss team. The US is the team to loose this game, let's see if they can handle the pressure.

On one hand, I want the US to go medal-less because:

Their Coach is Ron Wilson (Coach of my NHL team) and him doing good in the Olympics means we are stuck with him for even longer (He's been putrid this year)

The fans of the US team tickle the dingle berries on my ass. After beating Team Canada in a close game (A game Canada dominate at times) they NEVER shut up. It's like they never just beat us at the WJC or anything, or they have a horrible hockey team. Never gave their team enough credit.

Kesler. He embodies the arrogance Americans have become known for. Just hate the guys guts.

I want them to win because:

It would be something positive for Brain Burke in what has to be a hell of a year.

They deserve it so far.

I rather have played Belarus.

As someone said earlier, the key is a good start and getting the 1st goal. That said, the effort has to be there throughout. As we've seen already, just because you get off to a good start and maybe an early 2-0 lead doesn't mean you can lay off a bit. Slovakia and the Czechs were extremely lucky in that regard today.

Yes since beating the Canadians in the World Junior Championships is so comparable to beating the Canadians in the Olympics...infront of their home fans.

US fans expect the guys to compete with the Canadians on the WJC level. They've shown they can do it numerous times. Finally finishing the job earlier this year doesn't equal finally knocking off a team you hadn't knocked off in the Olympics in 50 years. This team wasn't expected to be this "good" this fast. I really thought we might compete for a medal in 2014. But definitely not in 2010. They've far exceeded anyone's opinion in the media, and they've at the very least...capture the Nation's interest even for just 5 minutes. Hopefully they can continue to build on this with a solid win over the Swiss.

Funny because not only before the olympics but after we beat you, you guys NEVER shut up. I'm a bit sick and tired of hearing outrageous claims like even the canadas second and third teams could beat team USA. Yes there is a lot of smack talk and you guys brought it on yourselfs.

Its going to be a disgrace if USA manages to drop this one. They will not be phoning it in like some teams did in the robin so I predict 5-1.

I find it stupid how this is the game that has the only watchable time slot in Europe, but what can you do..

Must really suck to be a West Coast Olympics fan. All the tape delays, sheesh. What is this, 1970?

I'm just glad NBC decided to show this game live in the afternoon here on the East Coast

Tape delaying an afternoon game in the modern era is just inconceivably stupid. Unless we are talking 4AM (and yes, I know that wouldn't stop many of us). An afternoon tape delay just means that people follow online and refresh boxscores every minute. Lots of those people will not watch the game three hours later, because they've already experienced it.
