Joe getting bashed!

Just read a thread on the olympics blasting Jumbo Joe! I have to admit he doesn't look very good.

While Joe himself did not look impressive against Team USA, the Shark line of Marleau-Thornton-Heatley has 5 of Canada's 13 goals in the tournament and almost always sustains preassure in the opposition's defensive zone.

If people want to cry about lack of results I can understand that, but it's not like Thornton is on the ice when Canada is scored on.

There were far worse players for Canada yesterday.

And? He can take it ... The finger should be pointed at Ducks players like, oh, dunno Getzlaf, Perry, Niedermayer, and ex-duck Pronger. But, whatever ... It's already been said - easy target.

the bashing of big joe is usual, although i wonder sometimes about some of those people who sit there and criticize him for not throwing his body around and being physical, I mean its not like he plays that way all season long and just doesn't do it during the big games, that isn't his style of play... What bothers me more is the people ripping on marleau, he is playing great this season and looked good in the USA/Canada game just got robbed by miller (as did almost all of their beloved players) i mean he lead the team in shots and almost had two goals.

I don't think there is anyone on team Canada that ISN'T recieving some level of bashing.

I honestly thought they were the line that had the most open looks and chances.. Heater did bury one on a line change... that would've been Joe's assist

Heatley is tied with the Olympic lead in goals so I think we can take him off the hook.

Joe's biggest weakness (not shooting) becomes even more glaring when he's basically playing on an all-star team. It makes him even less likely to shoot and he becomes extremely predictable. Granted, he's playing with his usual linemates but the atmosphere is entirely different.

The main board Canadians are bitter and flailing about looking for a scapegoat. However, many are already back to their arrogant and pompous ways again.

its funny to see thornton getting criticisized but other players are for the most part blame free. its not shocking to see the sharks line get blame even when theyve been the best players. even if canada wins itll be despite thornoton being on the team even if he had a 5 point game in the gold medal game.

To be honest I thought Crosby and his line was much worse than the sharks, and I thought Crosby was worse than Joe. Crosby was a -3 until he scored a goal that Miller really should have stopped .I think the Sharks line is playing a lot better than the other lines in the defensive zone.

Rightfully so. But then again, almost every Canadian player deserves to be bashed. Doughty is one of the exceptions - he is so ****ing awesome; I am jealous of LA for the first time in my life.

to be fair your boy is playing much worse then thornton when thornton and the sharks line is on the ice they are almost completely in the oppositions zone. i dont see why theyre getting all this **** thrown at them other then theyve become easy scapegoats (undeservedly so)

being canadian i have no problem with Thornton atm, atleast not compared to players like ;

Perry, Getzlaf, Neidermeyer

Brodeur

they are doing my head in so much this tourney with the giveaways. Everytime getzlaf is on the ice it seems like he passes it tape to tape to the other team the minute he gets over the blue line, either that or a shot to the chest of the goalie.... really annoying.

Heatley/Marleau have been fine so far, i dont think much more was expected of them really especially heatley, he is here to score goals and he's been scoring goals. Joes biggest downside really is his speed, the times he looks bad is when he is being made to take the puck in, that should be marleaus job to gain the zone and put it to thornton along the boards afterwards, but last game it seemed like thornton was carrying most the pucks in, and it was moot because his speed didnt allow him to get in cleanly
