He's a fan for hire...

Brother was at the game last night, and saw the guy was handing out t-shirts etc. and starting chants...

Rumored he was hired by Pepsi to start the "Eh oh Canada Go" chants...

Every time I may begin to warm to Canadian hockey teams I see someone like him and decide I would rather see anyone else win. Go Canada go etc is fine, the whole "hockey is our game" drives me nuts.

A buddy of mine pointed him out earlier in the tournament. This guy is living the hockey fan's dream!

There's a red "cherry" colored light flashing on his head.

I don't think he is a fan for hire. I think he is just a very wealthy man with a passion for the game.

In Saskatoon at the World Juniors, he was handing out free Canadian flags to everyone in our section. There was not a single trace of corporate sponsorship on the guy, and he never once started the "Eh-O-Canada-Go" thing.

He used to be known as The Flame, & would appear at football games and a giant flame would burst from his helmet when the home team scored. He tried it at some hockey games but was eventually told to put it out.

The guy runs or ran a bus tour company to sporting events. He is not a fan for hire.

Eh, no he's not. He's Dave Ash from Dash Tours out of Regina, he's at a lot of Rider Games, and was at the World Juniors at Regina.

Rod Pedersen, (voice of the Roughriders, works for Regina Radio, CKRM) put it in his blog

Regina's Dave Ash (DASH Tours) is getting more TV time than Mike Babcock. He's in the white hockey helmet with an Olympics flag cape and cowbell.
EDIT:^^^Ya, what Gump said.

That's not passionate. That's arrogant with a healthy dose of forgetfulness it becomes an insufferable trait. I would never begrudge Canadian fans for cheering their teams or saying that they feel that their team is the favorite or even the best team, but stuff like "hockey is our game" and the whole we're going to smash everyone attitude that people in Canada take drives me crazy. That is all.

The "hockey is our game" thing is a reference to the fact that we invented the damn game...

Or the fact that we love it and play it a lot. Not sure why this offends people. Hockey can be their game too if they want. The slogan is meant to say that hockey is the most important sport in Canada not that we're the only ones good at it.
