Mats Zuccarello Aasen

So... what wondering what you guys think about Montreal going after Mats, he has a great offensive talent and is a good stickhanlder. on the down side he is really small. But if we go after him now and give him 1-2 years in Hamilton, i think he can grow into a top 6 forward that. His agent said that some NHL teams has shown interest lately and that Chicago is one of them. I know becuase of his size he might not be the player type we need right now, but since he is the only talented norwegian hockey player and im norwegian so of course want him to come to Montreal.

Quick stats:
Mats Zuccarello-Aasen
Left Wing
Born Sep 1 1987
Height 5.07 -- Weight 154 -- Shoots L

154 pounds? Guy would get killed in the NHL. I don't see this happening.

ye, right now he would. He is not ready at all, but i want him in the ahl to add weight and to play in the small rinks. he showed against the swiss that a small rink suits him alot better than the europan rinks.

Mats Naslund was only 5'7" 160lbs. I don't think it would hurt to check this Mats out.

This guy literally weights the same as I do, and is shorter by two inches. I even get overpowered in gym class occaisionally. Imagine Aassen vs. Chara?

Hate to tell you this but most humans stop growing at about 20-21 years old.

Exactly, in the new NHL skills are slowly gaining the upper edge over size and weight. For this player though, no idea who he is or how skilled he is. I do know we got a Desharnais and Pyatt that will eventually be part of this team...

he is ranked as one of the best wingers in the sel.. Good hands, good shot, lots of heart and he has asked his agent to get him to the nhl. on the weak side is his weight ofc and defencive game.
Btw the chicago intrest seems strong after his agent confirmed it. and he might head over after this summer. Boston is also looking at him i think.

We could use him on the 4th line with Hal Gill and Ryan O'Byrne

Naslund was amazingly talented and was stocky for his size...plus he played in a era with the no instigator rule...Chris Nilan and John Kordic made it a lot easier for small Habs to play in the NHL.

So ANOTHER small quick forward?? Gionta, Cams, DD, aren't enough?? We need more now? Umm no thanks. We have a full cupboard of small forwards, how about drafting some monster players to try to develop instead or more smurfs.

Actually, according to the BMI (not a perfect science I agree), it's a very normal weight for 5'6".
