He's been struggling this year, but I like the move. I think he's been a capable backup throughout his career.

Auld was also a starting goalie for the Nucks in 2005 and split duties last season with the Sens. So if god forbid Lundqvist went down with an injury we wouldn't have to worry if Auld could handle the load for a couple weeks.

Good pickup.

Auld is awesome.

I used to live in North Bay, ON, where he played in the NHL. He was always one of the few bright spots on bad teams, that often overachieved because of him.

He was great last year for the Sens, as both a backup and starter. He was our best goalie, and I wish he would have been re-signed. I think I'd have preferred him over Leclaire.

Hope he does well in New York, I'm sure he will.

Intresting, kind of needed though. We need an experianced back up goalie that can play here & there & will give us a better shot than Johnson at this point.

I hope there isn't any truth to that sweden Article thats that stated Lundquist has been injured since early in the season. I think it was a non-story used on a slow news day, but you never know.

This is a good move if Auld leaves this summer. Saves a little bit of money and let's 85 develop in Hart. Clearly moving up and down hasn't been good for him. Young players like young children need stability. Next year 85 should be the full time backup. For now, let him play in the AHL and get playoff experience at that level.

I hope he can stop his inconsistent play.

Yeah. He played 63 games in 05/06, 43 games last season... Not too shabby.

I have more confidence in Auld than Valliquette tbh.

ďItís exciting,Ē Auld said by phone. ďObviously, you want to play for an NHL team and thatís what Iím getting here. I look forward to going there and seeing if I can help them get in the playoffs any way I can. They have one of the best goalies in the league there in Henrik Lundqvist, but whatever they need from me, Iíll do. Iíve known throughout my career that there are many ways to contribute.Ē

Any chance he can pot 20 or 30 goals by the end of the season?

Ideally I would have Auld play like 5 of the remaining games, but I seriously doubt Tortorella is going to stray from Lundqvist because he is our #1 goalie and we're not exactly in the best position to make the playoffs as it is with Gaborik not 100%. My prediction is Auld will get 2-3 starts maximum if Hank can keep the puck out.

I think it's just an insurance move.

If he wins every game he starts, I'm sure he'll start seeing more games. Hank needs as much rest as possible so we can ride him hard should we make the playoffs.

Good move it settles everything down with the goalie carousel that hasn't one bit helped the Wolf Pack's struggles.

Hmmm... so the Stars are helping to pay the salaries of two players on the Rangers roster now.

Great move.

Johnson can get the rest of the season in Hartford, and Auld can finish the year with the Rangers.

great move

So how much does this save on the cap?. I'd like to see Voros moved out for a pick or even waived to move out his milion and if they can get a Dman send down Gilroy and clear more space. That's 2.7 more of the books, Rangers have some room to wiggle if they want too

Dallas is badly mismanaging their cap it looks. Can they take Redden and send him back to us on reentry waivers?
