The last link (halfway through the (interview) shows his wrist was damaged prior to coming to North America; he got more than a point a game in Moncton of the QMJHL while not at 100%...
coming into the draft i was 100% positive the Isles were picking him. It just makes sense the Isles would take the one guy considered to be a headcase. I'm not complaining I think it is well worth the chance but I just knew we were the only team that would take him.
We all have read about the head issues—and it could be a total disaster for the Isles—but here is the thing—High Risk/High Reward.
This is obviously a risk the Isles are comfortable in. When you think it through, alot of people have had doubts on Petrov as well, and the Isles have done well slowly working Petrov, to get him here and hopefully they can finish the job and bring Petrov here this year.
Hopefully, they can get Kabanov away from his dad, who by all accounts is a big issue. Perhaps this works, and perhaps it doesn't. For the third round—it is worth the risk!
Nino, Nelson and Kabanov—so far this is a very solid draft.
"He's a well-rounded offensively-skilled player. One of the better stickhandlers and one of the better skaters in the draft. His offensive upside is high, as far as the next level goes. He's a first line kind of player skill wise. If you look at pure offensive players, he's one of the best in the draft."
So excited and happy we drafted Kabanov. Great selection, there is absolutely nobody who can question this decision. This is one of the top 5 forwards in the draft and we got him the third round. I have been reading up on him for weeks and I still get the impression that these supposed attitude issues are really overblown.
I got goosebumps watching this video and thinking 2-3 years down the road of an offensive team with Tavares, Okposo, Bailey, Nino, Petrov, Kabanov, etc.
Fantastic pick value wise. One of the best pure goal scorers in the draft with game controlling upside. The Isles are fortunate that their core is otherwise guys who need no guidance off ice in Okposo, Tavares, Bailey, and seemingly Neidreiter and DeHaan. You have guys like that you can afford to try and straighten him out with his dad and reap the benefits of a dynamic talent.
Smiling ear-to-ear. Very aware of his character issues, but this is a wonderful place for him to develop. Seems all his previous problems concerned not getting enough minutes with his old clubs, and Scott Gordon is the type of coach to give icetime to our kids.
...I don't think it's fair to set the bar that high for any kid. Let's just hope he's the next Alex the Great or Sid the kid...forget Oleg...that's a pipe dream.

I worry....scripture foretells of a false prophet coming foreward and challenging Oleg, creating a battle between the renegade and faithful wingers, with locks of hair falling asunder. Oleg is said to win this battle and this could end up with Kirill falling to the dark chamber, or in Latin, De Triogrande Lina, and never allowed to play in the NHL, forever pitting fans against fans, sending archangel Petrov to do his work.
