'What if' the Americans won Gold

That would put them as the Champs in both the WJC and the Olympics. It would be quite the acomplishment for a country of the USA's caliber.

However, regardless of what happens from now on in the Olympics, it's been quite the 2010 for the States in hockey... I doubt anybody expected this.

Actually, I fully expected the US to be a top team in these Olympics. It was the so called "experts" of HFBoards who decided they had no shot.

Yeah, no.

You can say "I saw it coming!!1!" all you want, but it's a big underdog story, and hardly anyone considered them favourites. It wasn't just hfboards.

Would be a hell of a year for them hope it doesn't happen.

It would be a nightmare for Team Canada. We'll never hear the end of it. I can't stand some of the no-show players like Thornton, Marleau, Heatley. I wouldn't count on those guys to lead the way in a gold medal game.

But Crosby, Toews, Getzlaf, Richards, etc...those guys are all heart. Let's hope Luongo can hold the fort and Miller isn't the MVP.

I didn't say favorites, but certainly a contender for gold.

The US has already won... even silver is a terrific accomplishment for them. They'll be playing with everything to gain and nothing to lose. A dangerous combo.

A lot of people gave the US a darkhorse shot for a bronze medal, myself included.

It'll be a tremendous accomplishment regardless of the result Sunday.

The US has been lucky so far playing weak teams like Canada, Finland, and Switzerland. Let's see how well they do against a far superior team like Slovakia.

and by caliber i assume of course that you mean both the size of the country, and their playing ability? (i.e. a homonym)

i think it's great for worldwide hockey that USA hockey seems to be in high gear. the top end talent level isn't at Canada/Russia level i don't think, but the prototypes are perfect.

I just checked your post history, and I didn't see anything like that here.

Granted, I did it quickly, so I may have missed it - can you link us to the appropriate posts?

If we win the Juniors and Olympic Hockey tournaments, all we need is a senior league victory to prove that we own the world in Hockey at every age level.

I picked US for gold before the tourney. Also said I would be surprised if Russia made the semi's (5-10 good players does not make a team)

I love being right

Note: I may or may not have said this on HF, so please understand I do talk about hockey in real life too

So in order for something to be factual it needs to have HFBoards evidence? I didn't post it on here, although it was certainly my opinion pre Olympics.

<--- Canadian

If not Canada then US should win Gold.

BTW Are they still going to tape delay the gold medal game? That would be ridiculous

Yeah, but you've probably also predicted a Buffalo win in one of the last 7 or 8 Sabres-Sens games. It all evens out.
