People are forgetting that Brian Burke is not an idiot, nor is Wilson.

Burke put this team together analyzing all aspects of what is needed to be a TEAM.
Granted, based on sheer talent the Americans are not the Russians, the Swedes or the Canadians.

The USA team has everything from speed, toughness, skill, heart and desire to win gold.

(and I knew that from the start)

And for the record, there are guys on the Canadian team, I would NOT have picked.

You guys should should elect Burke president in the next election.
Wilson can't be--he was born in Canada

Canada's strategy to win in the final game:

1. Run over Parise & Miller and take them both out of the game. The other Americans don't scare me as much.
2. Pray Luongo plays well (or decent enough)

Zach Parise is really underrated. He leads in game-winning goals in the NHL, I believe. Too bad he has to play in that dead-beat market in New Jersey, he never gets enough recognition.

He and Jonathan Toews are all heart and character.

Thornton, Marleau and Heatley will choke in the gold medal game. You can count on that. Sens fans know Heatley's disappearing act when the going gets tough. But if Yzerman had left them off, everyone would've second guessed him anyway because they are technically the highest-scoring line in the NHL's regular season.

I wouldn't have picked Pronger too. This guy is SLOW as molasses.

I don't advocate running Miller over but definitely get in his space.

Remember, AGAIN, Canada still has to beat Slovakia, you guys aren't in yet....as many people keep on seeming to forget.

I'd like to see what would have happened at Nagano had Wilson bag skated the guys rather than let them treat the event like spring break.

I don't think anyone is forgetting that.

Should we all put (if we beat Slovakia) before every post?

True. Halak has won every game in the NHL where he faced 40+ shots. Scary as hell.

I'm just saying, IF they do make the gold medal game, taking Parise and Miller out of the game is KEY.

I guess reading is not a strength of yours.

This is a direct quote from what I wrote

"USA has done well for themselves, and earned the easy bracket no question about it. And now they will be the favorite in the final ( still the only undefeated team)."

We can do the same or even better in that type of game.

that type of game is the only game I know and if you've watched, the Americans are playing that type of game and Canada really hasn't so far.

If the US wins, I will likely attempt gymnastics in my living room

That will be followed by a trip to the ER.

It would be flat out awesome for the USA! Being the 30 year anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, it would make a great story to finish the Olympic tourney.

Well, your defensiveness got the best of you on this one. If you had read this poster's "rant" as you so tactfully put it, you would have realized that what he said was basically a reasoning as to exactly why the Americans are where they are. Try reading Before you post next time, instead of getting ridiculously defensive over any perceived slight to your almighty national team.

A few of them trashed their rooms, just like it was spring break.

If the USA wins it would be a great day for hockey because of all the coverage it will receive in the States. It would also be great for the program to have it pay off with their most successful year.

Hopefully Canada wins tonight so North American hockey finishes 1-2 in the world.

Don't forget it's also the 50 year anniversary of the 'forgotten miracle,' the 1960 gold winning team.

No, but half of the Canadian posters on here seem to think they don't have too play a game tonight and are already in the finals.

Plain and simple: get the damn puck PAST Miller. Other players beside Parise don't scare me that much.

I understand the intent of the original post and that it wasn't intentionally disrespectful but "a country of the USA's caliber"? This is a team full of NHL players, including some of the best players in the game (Parise, Kane, Rafalski, Suter) and, arguably, the best goalie in the world. It's not a beer league team and it's about time for people (Canadian and American alike) to stop treating this team like the little engine that could.

What a win for NHL hockey would that be. Although it's NHL sized rink so it almost had to be this way.

Amazing year for the Americans..... ALSO

VERY good for the sport. I'm not saying I would be happy, but a small silver lining is that the amount of young kids who would get to watch this sort of thing down south and grow up wanting to be hockey players would be amazing. If the right moves could be made the US could become a strong hockey market like back in the days of Wayner.

Just sayin...

That would mean they have won the gold medal and the US count of medals continues it's dominant pace. Don't celebrate however whether it be US or Canada that wins Gold until the building is completely empty.
