All Hockey Politics aside.......He's a decent hockey player, I think this game proves that.
No one is arguing his skill set here. I'll be the first to admit he's a generational talent. I just hate the way he plays the game and behaves on the ice. Mix in the ridiculous threads and posts on the main board about every crisp pass he makes and it's easy for me to root against him.
thanks Cap..I thought with a name like Suter, so close to the ultimate hockey family name, Sutter, and the number 20, as well as being American meant something.
As for Crosby...he is the best example of the player that you root against when he's not on your team and the player you'd love to have because he absolutely changes your team. I'm not a huge fan myself, but there is no denying that he is a top three player in the NHL today and that he has been for a little while now and no doubt will be for the next 10-15 years.
Of course Drury and Cally are disappointed, they know they aren't winning jack with the Rangers this year, this was their chance to win something.
Same reason why Hank looked absolutely crushed after he was eliminated... and he has to go from having Lidstrom and Kronwall in front of him to Redden and Co.... oh, the horror!!!

That's a little extreme there. They were upset because they wanted to win for their countries, not because they have to go back and play for the Rangers. Well, may be they were a little upset because of that

Hell I get scared thinking I have the watch the Rangers again as well

I think a lot of people don't realize just how much international competition means to these guys...especially the European players.
I would argue that an Olympic Gold Medal means more than a Stanley Cup to a lot of guys...
Don't be a dbag dude, I know that Hugh Jessiman hadn't even played a game in the NHL before, but excuse me for not knowing every single player in the year 2003 that was drafted in the 1st round and if they made an impact or not.
I'm sorry, but this is talked about time and time again. Not only on the Ranger board, but on every board on here except the politics board.
We know that he sucks. We know that there were tons of great, amazing players selected after him. Don't sit there and post like a Debbies fan and remind us.

But at the same time I really haven't been here long enough to see those conversations. From the time that I have been hear I don't think I ever recall seeing something about the draft and people we passed on that year, now that I get it, and put my 2 cents about it in, I'm fine with moving on, but I just wanted to put my opinion on the matter in.
Epic, just epic.
You want to know what makes this tournament special? These are all star teams that are going all out.
In no other sport do you see this type of talent playing this hard.
Essentially we just saw the "Stanley Cup Playoffs" with all-star teams via single elimination.

To me the Olympics this year magnified what, to me, are the two biggest things wrong with the NHL.
1) The talent is too spread out in the NHL. That NHL has too many marginal, nameless and faceless players mucking it up on 3rd and 4th lines. Look at how amazing the games were. There is a lot of talent in the world (consider that Russia, the USA, and Canada probably could have fielded second and third teams that would have been competitive), but not enough to keep a 30 team league exciting for the casual fan.
2) The refs put the whistles away for the most part...this is self explanatory. Also...when you have that many superstars playing at once you can't really play favorites...that alone makes the games much more enjoyable.
Also as a Rangers fan...to watch Drury and Cally used correctly and in the roles they should be used in...and excelling in those roles...that was fun to watch...
Just got home from a long day of traveling. Actually had a nice moment with about 20 or 30 other people in the Houston airport. Huddled around a small bar showing the game, cheering each USA rush and other people walking by commenting on the score in a way that seemed like they seemed at least a little invested in the outcome. Of a hockey game. In Houston.
I know it's the Olympics, and the gold medal game, but it was still cool seeing other people paying attention to hockey.
Had to leave with about 8 minutes left so I missed the tying goal with 24 seconds left. I bet those people went bonkers. Actually wound up paying $6 to watch OT on the plane. I guess my groan at Crosby's shot was better than me getting booted off the plane for screaming and dancing.
I don't mind saying that the game ripped out my guts. After all these guys accomplished, the comeback at the end, to lose it that way..........on a weak 5-hole shot was devastating. Better than losing in a shootout of course, but terrible just the same. To boot, it had to be Crosby of all people. Now we get to endure more of Slats' follies. Oh joy.
