Ask them the question again in April and see what they say. Or even ask them in October before an Olympic year. I'm sure they see it as an honor, but kids in Canada and America don't pretend they're scoring a goal to win a gold medal, they pretend they're scoring to win game 7 of the SCF.
Not saying they don't see it as an honor to play for their country, but they don't put anywhere near the amount of effort they put into winning the cup (a full 82 game season and at least 16 playoff games). Or at least I hope they don't.
Exactly. It's good PR and media relations to say now that you want a gold medal more than a Cup, but I find it hard to believe that Canadians grow up dreaming about winning a gold medal more than hoisting the Stanley Cup.
