Ott resigns with Stars 4 yrs (2.95 a yr)

I think Ott is getting overpaid. Was hoping that POS would go East , that way they could watch there knee's instead of our players.

Stajan resigns with Flames for 4 yrs (3.5 a yr)

overpayment and there is your #1 C Flames fans. God not only did he lose on the trades but he is quickly wasting there free cap room on 2nd/3rd liners

Overpays on both Ott and Stajan- makes our recent signings look great. We don't really have a spot for Leopold, the 2nd will be worth a lot more than adding Leopold as 6th D-man which would be tough to work under the cap anyway.

Actually we would have easily been able to afford him as we have enough cap room with about 1/2 million free right now

I worry about Sopel's health down stretch

Kim Johnsson can play 20+ minutes. If he does, Sopel basically needs to only be on the ice for PK... so while his health is a concern, Jordan Hendry's still around if we don't add a d-man

Is Toivonen a friend of Niemi like Kopecky is a friend of Hossa???

I really like your Thread BWC. also Post #1 with all moves

Niemi will start tommorow. Does this really mean the end of Huet in Chicago??

I'm betting we're going to sit Sopel for the next couple games/weeks to let him get some solid rest and make sure he doesn't get bruised up too badly. Hendry can fill in for Sopel in the downtime, which might be why we're pulling in all these old hat scrub defensemen for Rockford to be possible reserve dmen.

Grebeshkov traded to Preds for 2nd rounder

Great pickup for Preds

Grebeshkov has been average to bad this year. Longterm he will be great replacement for Hamhuis

No. Q said he's riding Niemi until he loses, that seems fair to me, especially if it'll light a fire up Huet's ass next time he's in.

That is a decent return for Grebs.

Yup, Niemi is in until he loses. Expect Huet to jump back in after our next loss.

While this seems like an odd deal, I'd still wait until we see what Toivonen does. He seems like an AHLer for now, but some goalies do take longer to mature. If anything, I see this as a lateral move for Rockford.

Thrashers acquire Evgeny Artykhin from Anaheim for Nathan Oystrick and conditional pick in 2011

Interesting deal. Artykhin really didn't fit into Anaheim as they thought he would. Atlanta can use the size and physical presence in there bottom 6 going ahead.

Oystrick is pretty much just a #7 at best

Any ideas on what the conditions are for the draft pick in '11?

I dont know at this moment

Honestly this trade is sorta meh,,,,,,, Haven't really gone too in depth on it. It is a conditional 6th though. Dont know conditions. I know there has been some rumblings about him going back to Russia after year. If that is the case maybe the conditional is based around if he stays or goes

Will have to find out somepoint though as I did start this thread so it is sorta my responsibility

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Daryl Boyle is the only one with an AHL-only contract.

So, this trade is a mix, but mostly at the NHL level.

I'll check in to this...

EDIT: Boyle was traded for future considerations. (AHL deal only) LINK

Toivonen came back to North America strong and ready and determined to be successful at The AHL level before advancing back up to The NHL.

His record seems just mediocre, but Peoria's team defense has been terrible. I bet Hannu is screaming inside because Richmond is one of those irresponsible defenseman who turned over the puck way too much. And now he's got him again to leave him hangin'.

Toivonen has been left out hung to dry on many, many occasions this season and has been really, really good. If it was not for his outstanding goaltending his record would be really bad and he might have been shipped out by now if he was doing poorly. But the fact is, he's been one of Peoria's MVPs.

We Blues fans are thinking that this was a way to let him leave The Blues system because we have Jake Allen coming up soon and Toivonen probably would have been unjustifiably sent to the ECHL.

This was a favor to Hannu and I'll bet you that he ecstatic, with the exception that Richmond has followed him to Rockford.

Richmond hasn't changed much as a defenseman I take it

Dreger mentioned that the flyers are pushing hard for Dman, Dan Hamhuis, out of Nashville. Considering Nashville is still in playoff contention (7th in conference), I wonder what they would be looking for in return. The article does mention potentially Ryan Parent.

Parent + Grebs offset the lose of Hamhuis
