aww kk u cleared that up. I didn't know Romania was part of the Bulkians though, the former Yugolsavian Republic, Greece, and Albania I thought were the only nations in the Bulkians. I may be wrong though, you sound like you know what your talking about.

The countries you mentioned plus Romania and Bulgaria there are all part of the Balkans.

Only Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia are slavic.

Romanian were probably speaking some Russian during socialist era when Russian language was mandatory at schools.

Thank you for telling me cause I am from Ukraine..(well, more like from USSR)

I know kids in Poland were learning Russian til the end of 80-ies. I've been to hartserzh(pioneer) camp in Poland and many were speaking fluent Russian.

Were they military conquests? Im pretty sure that they were because of WWII. URSS had a huge influence on these small communist countries. My father went to poland during the '70s and there were quite a few Russian soldiers and they had places in town reserved for them.

No there was no Soviet military presence in Romania, since 65 when Ceausescu took over the country, he was also the first president to eliminate Russian from schools.

Hate to be mean but your team is losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning... Tampa Bay! Frankly I dont care anymore if anyone respects the Lightning. Respect is earned on the ice not from fan boards. Some Lightning fans just hate being talked about as a team that should be contracted, or as a team only in first because of the weak division, their lack of injuries, or another teams injuries. I, for one, am starting to ignore it but there are others that are sick of it. And when we want to talk hockey, we have to talk about how Hulk Hogan is doing our pre game stuff. There is a Lightning board where people actually know hockey, but we prefer to keep it a secret as on other boards there is a Southern bias. If you would like to talk hockey then lets talk hockey. I know a Lightning fan brought it up, but lets just stop talking about all this off-ice crap and start talking hockey. All these threads about ole ole and Hulk Hogan are pretty pointless.

I have a scoop for you guys: it's because they're playing the Bouncing Souls song because it's a great song and pumps people up, and in the song it says Ole Ole Ole and not Allez Allez Allez, so they're chanting Ole. MYSTERY SOLVED!

I love the Ole Ole chant! I first heard it during games in 2002 and then the crowd starting singing along and then it became our playoffs song and the rest is history. Fans in Montreal love to chant and sing and be noisy. That's what makes the atmosphere so great.

Everyone knows it's a soccer song and nobody really cares. It's not just a Montreal thing, Vancouver now uses it for their goal song and I've heard it played in about a dozen NHL arenas. But Montreal played it first.

As for Canadians not liking teams in the Sun belt, can you really blame us? This is the hotbed of hockey and cities like Winnipeg and Quebec City would love to have teams instead of watching them in places like Tampa where hockey isn't front page news and most games aren't sell outs. I'm sure there are some hardcore fans in Tampa but it's not exactly known as hockey town.
