As a recovering alcoholic, one who's drank hundreds of gallons of more beer and liquor than everyone in this thread, I can comfortably say American beer has an edge on Canadian beer.

Biggest problem with Canadian beer is how heavy it is. You get full after a six pack and either have to make yourself puke to get drunker, or go to liquor. Corona destroys everything that has come out of Canada. Great taste, and you can drink an entire 12 pack without getting full.

Labatt Blue is my favorite Canadian beer.

And German beer is better than them all, for the record.

Corona? There's a reason they put lime in it, you know. Clear bottle makes it skunky quickly. Its ok when its fresh, but hard to find. Its also so light, its like water.

100s of Canadian beers are better. Labatt Blue is not among them. Id suggest some, but ya gotta stay on the wagon.

Wait, so the bet was that the winner would get a beer from their own country? Why wouldn't it be that if Barry won, he got sent Molson and if Canada won, he had to send Harper the Yuengling?

I have tested and disproven your theory at least 200 times, probably more.

Keith's red and Rickard's red...wonderful beer. I guess I like red beer.

Molson Canadian tastes like beer that has been left out in the sun for a week and then chilled again. Awful stuff.

Finally I can agree with the Canadian biased main HF boards, Obama should not only buy Harper a case of Molson he should buy him a case of Labbat Blue from Buffalo.... (most of you don't know or care but Buffalo, New York is the USA headquarters for Labatt Blue!)

I hate basketball so I also think Obama should wear a Canadian Olympic hockey sweater for a week.... I mean that to, the USA must never forget this defeat and a Canadian Sweater in the White House would do America a favor...

Congratulations Canada, the pressure was on you and you did it! Seriously, kudos!

Maybe Canadian beer needs you to man up to a level you are not accustomed to

I drink a lot of beer, and I can drink 12 without having to make myself puke or switch to liquor. I am not even a technical alcoholic, so I don't know what your problem is with the beer.

Also Rickards is fantastic, red & white.

I'll give you 5 to 1 odds Obama either didn't watch any of the game, or just OT.
I think the guy thinks like Tiger Woods when it comes to hockey. Still shake my head
at his lame attempt on name dropping Ovechkin at a press conf in Russia last year.

The only way you might hear about him watching a hockey game is if Wash/Chicago meet in the Cup and even then it would be 50/50. He's a hoop freak.

There is a lot of fail in this thread.

The Pens board has an awesome beer thread for anyone looking for education on the fantastic beer industry in North America.

A small sample of great breweries in NA that put out better beer than the vast majority of products from Budweiser, Molson, et al:

He likes hockey when the Pens give him a jersey. Can anybody explain why that happened btw? An american team wins the cup every year and they don't go to the White House to give el presidente a jersey.

One of the things you need to understand about beer that it is brewed to fit the temperature of the area it's brewed in.
In 110 degree weather a Corona is going to taste exponentially better than say a Guinness or Bass.
Corona is a summer beer best consumed in the desert.

That is also why Budweiser, Coors, and Miller as so light. They were originally brewed to be shipped out West to railroad workers. Americans in the east went to down their local tavern and drank the beer brewed locally(of course those were all killed by prohibition)

American Premium (Budwiser, Budlight lime)

Domestic + American (Coors, Kokanee, Labatt Blue, Canadian)
Bud light lime is possibly the worst alcoholic drink imaginable in every possible way. I can't even begin to drink enough to get drunk on it because I have to chase every sip I take with real beer, and by the time I finish the second one I just give up. Canadian is by no means a good beer, but I cannot believe you would rather drink BUD LIGHT ****ING LIME over it. At least the taste of Canadian slightly resembles the taste of beer.
I would also drink Canadian over Heineken. I don't know what Heineken is like in other areas, but where I'm from it tastes like someone took a razor blade to a quarter and put all of the shavings in the beer. I've never had "lech" but the rest of those beers are at least arguably better than Canadian, and in some cases (Keiths especially) are light years ahead.

They should have bet whiskey (whisky to our northern friends). Both countries have far better products to offer there than they do when it comes to beer.

We don't get any North Coast brews in Pittsburgh

We get a raw deal on the beer distribution here sometimes.
