ATLANTA -- Is it possible Tomas Vokoun has played his final game with the Florida Panthers.
Yes, it is.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching -- and Vokoun getting the night off tonight in Atlanta -- he may have rocked the leaping cat for the last time.
We spoke to T-Vo today after the morning skate at Taco Mac Arena and he said he had spoken to GM Randy Sexton regarding the trade rumors and his stance on dropping his no trade.
Vokoun says he had not told Sexton that he would not waive the no trade as I had read somewhere and he knows there are potential deals out there. The Twitterverse is, ahem, a-twitter with rumors that he might be going to Philadelphia.
Goalie Tomas Vokoun said this morning he and GM Randy Sexton have discussed his future in regard to Wednesday’s trade deadline.
Vokoun said he and Sexton have agreed not to make any details public, but he did add, “he knows where I stand and I know where he stands. We have an understanding. There are a couple of scenarios and I’m prepared for all of them.”
Vokoun can feel more comfortable than other Panthers players since he has a no-trade clause that allows him to veto any deal.
He reiterated this morning his stance before the Olympic break — that he’d consider waiving his no-trade depending on the situation.
It makes sense to me that Vokoun would tell Sexton which teams he’d accept a trade to so Sexton doesn’t waste his team trying to negotiate with a team Vokoun isn’t willing to go to. However, Vokoun, like Sexton told me Saturday, said he hasn’t given Sexton a list of teams he’s OK with.
“No I didn’t. If there’s a deal in place, they’ll let me know and ultimately it’s my decision yes or no,” Vokoun said.
I think we can get him by moving Carle whether or not that is a good idea is another issue.
I would do it if Parent and Bartulis werent banged up....I still think about it even with them hurt. You are taking a chance by putting Coburn with Pronger and hoping it works, but I think the upgrade in goal would erase any negatives from moving Carle....of course I am ignoring cap issues.

What handicaps us in all of these talks is that we have zero picks to give anyone.
